I think the abbr tags for N8 and N9 are just a bit out of date (forgetting the use of "formally" in place of "formerly").

Agree, there is a plan to make them mod-editable and this will probably result in dropping out of dates hints.

Is anyone else getting random JavaScript alerts asking 'Do you want to leave this page?' whilst browsing the Forum? It's a pain in the bum.

Are they still happening? I suspect it's rogue advertisers as there shouldn't be anything other than a standard banner. I've only ever had the annoying redirection to an app store on my mobile but that hasn't happened in the last year or so. If you spot what the ad is for then I may be able to just block it permanently.

Anyone else finding the forum a tad slow to react today?

Yeah, it was obviously having a few problems. Hopefully back to normal now, I'll keep an eye out for it happening again.

Is there some sort of bug regarding backslashes? If I try to type a representation of the early 2000s Granada logo - GR/N/D/ - for example, the backslashes disappear when previewing or submitting the post.

There are several things in place to stop HTML tags and XSS from being posted and it may be being a little heavy handed. Having said that, not being able to post backslashes shouldn't inconvenience too much (unless you are trying to stylise Granada I suppose!)

I have now been sent three message with NOTHING in them, im sure that not possible since it say the box is empty, Any ideas why this is the case?

Shouldn't be able to. Were they sent from the same person? Are you able to find out what they were trying to send?

One was from myself and at least one was from another person whom I was writing on behalf of in my PM due to said issue.

No 'Stay on this page?' alert for a few days now, thank goodness, but I've had it on one other site too recently. Hopefully it is a dodgy ad, and nothing more serious affecting my PC!

A quick suggestion. When a user first visits the site, if there is a notification (for a post receiving kudos etc) the box doesn't pop up straight away and I find that by the time I notice is starting to animate on the screen, I have already clicked a link for a page or thread I want to view and then I completely miss the notification. Perhaps changing the colour to make it easier seen, changing the speed it comes on screen or having it as a notification beside the username at the top right, the same as there is for a PM?

Better yet, is it possible they don't disappear until they're clicked?

Next time there's a review of sub forums, can we get a nostalgia one? There's been a lot of posts in tv recently which would be much more at home in such a category.

I have reluctantly decided to make this post, regarding what I feel are the plummeting standards of the TV Forum. Having been a member of the board since March 2006 (yes, that long), I am all too familiar with the comments and criticisms that have been put to the forum in recent times.

Firstly, it would appear to me that the members are expected to possess a certain viewpoint and anybody with a view differing from that is automatically segregated and even removed from the forum. Likewise, anybody who does not automatically agree with status quo is deemed a rebel and somebody not fit to be part of the forum. Case in point, the recent removal of robschneider for expressing his displeasure over the new series of Top Gear, and even my own experiences of being belittled by other members, after stating that programmes such as Geordie Shore were designed for 'stupid people'. This is an opinion that I am entitled to have, yet when I expressed this I was shouted down and sarcastically told that 'not every programme is made to please me '.

Elsewhere, we now have gigantic thread after gigantic thread consisting of pedantic quibbling, or presenter rotas that verge on stalking, usually discussing a presenter's clothes, hairstyles or whether they were pregnant or depressed. No wonder we have become the laughing stock of the internet. You might not be aware of this, but earlier last month I had attempted to start a near enough identical topic, on the issues that I felt were certainly valid with the forum. Almost immediately, it was deleted by a moderator with no reason given. It seems that any criticism put toward the forum is automatically censored, in an act not dissimilar to Communist rule.

Even this post is an example of the petty bullying and snark comments that goes on, not only on this forum, but the neighbouring sister forum Metropol, where there is currently an on-going thread about the TV Forum and its members at 716 pages and counting.

You forgot the blatant sexism in those posts.
