Hello all.

I'm an ex-pat living in Canada. For the last 2 months or so, I've been having major issues with images loading on this site. I'm missing all sorts of images, but especially background images. Even the logo is missing. I've e-mailed Asa directly and had a reply, but my responses to him have been un-heeded (although I do know he's very busy so I'm not complaining, just noting). I also note that if I use a UK proxy, the site loads fine, which suggests it's a regional / country thing.

Does anyone else based abroad have any issues with the site in a similar way?

If your bothered about the images - just use the UK proxy - problem solved.

I too have this problem ever since the new version of the site was released. My friend at another IP address also has the same problem. This is the only site I have had a problem with, strange it never happened with the old version or neon during beta.

I was about to edit my post and say that I never noticed it during the neon beta or on the old version. As for using the UK proxy, that's fine (and I do) but it would be nice to be able to use the site as I used to without the additional work (it's not much, but still).

tweedledum - I don't see why you are so rude considering a) it's not your site and b) I'm voicing a legitimate complaint directly on the site concerned, and in the correct thread. As you can see above, I'm not the only person who is having this issue, this being one of the reasons I posted (to check if it was just me or more wide-spread). I did figure it was not an issue in the UK because there would have been more complaints about it before now.

Errm.... but you should be able to load this site properly without using a proxy... this isn't China here...

Welcome to the forum, CanadaPotato.

Aha! The famous roll of honour is back on the homepage!

Happy New Year everyone. And a huge thanks to Asa, and Charlie and Bail, for giving us this fantastic place to hang out.

All the best.

Heh, and exactly where I predicted they'd go.

I wonder if that could be placed on the area where the ident ribbon is on the front page?

Where else would they have gone?

Previously images were hosted on a separate website but since the new site went live they’ve been served up by http://i.tvforum.co.uk This is an alias for Amazon’s hosting – for example a typical image’s “real” URL is http://i.tvforum.co.uk.s3-website-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/img/misc/photo-strip-2.png The alias is working for most people, and I’ve checked it using sites like http://www.alertra.com which all return the image so I can only think there’s some localised issue with certain ISPs and CNAMEs. Googling it has revealed little so any suggestions would be gratefully received.

I regularly experience that problem.
