Not sure how/why this was on my old hard drive, but a snapshot of the forum's homepage way back in December 2001 - complete with Windows 98/Internet Explorer 5 surroundings!
“The butchering of Crossroads”? Talk about dramatic.
That's the browser frame, yeah (even has the same Birthday Today MSN tab on the taskbar at the bottom), but a different website (the Dalek6388 one I mentioned) had apparently been Photoshopped in.
So the next question is, what Google search did they put in to find that image?
The only difference I've noticed recently is that the font used for the forum navigation links at the top of the page is different on the homepage compared to the rest of the site.

Pretty sure it's been like this for a few years at least.
The reason it's different is because some pages use slightly newer stylesheets. For anyone vaguely interested, I give each major(ish) update a different codename -
Firecracker
was the first while it was being built (there's still references to "FC" all over the code). The next one was
Neon
(some may remember the beta site at neon.tvforum.co.uk running at the same time as the normal one).
Wave
is the current one used on some parts of some pages. The new one will be
Woodpecker
and will replace all the others.

And suddenly the reason the beta site was called
neon
has clicked in my brain...
