Hi
With Asa not updating TVH as much / focusing more on other things - will this mean TV Forum is next? I mean its got to go some time, right? It's been around for a good few years now.

I'm wondering that if Asa ever decides to give it up, will somebody else take his place?

I'm not sad or worried - I'm just curious

I can't see Asa giving up on the forum just yet as it seems to be doing quite well. Also, I'd imagine it takes less work to maintain a forum than it does to capture numerous video clips when you've lost the drive to do it.

I'm worried about this forum - not of any fault of the mods/admins at all, but the number of trolls it's drawing of late is...disturbing to say the least.

Oh is it time for the end of TV Forum thread again? It gets earlier every year, like Christmas.

I wonder if Asa did give up TV Home/Forum if Martin will get it?

I don't see why, just because he was the first to start up a General Chat Forum and ask Asa to make it 'official' (or however the agreement was set up).

As has been said, I can't see Asa closing the site, unless he manages to run into servere financial difficulties. I'd imagine running the site takes up very little of his time as (apart from the trolls running around) it's ticking over quite nicely at the moment.

lol I think TV Forum will be around for many years to come.

TV Home being a television presenation site will inevitably have times where not a lot is happening in that neck of the woods. That's not to say the owner has completely given up on it though. TV Home has had a lot of work put into it so I don't think Asa would freely hand it over to anyone - I've seen lesser sites go for £15,000 Wink Razz That aside I'm quite happy with my little allotment.

TV Forum will run itself pretty well, apart from when new features are added or a graphics change etc. Other than that the moderators keep things ticking over.

Long live both!

TV Forum's certainly not going anywhere - this sort of discussion has been around almost as long as the site's existence and I'm not going to get into the debate on that anymore. I would like the give the site a whole makeover but it's just too huge a project at this time. Maybe when the new version of phpBB comes out.

As to TV Home - it's a difficult one. I always said I'd never just pull the site, instead just leave it as an archive but I must admit I hate the idea of a site just gathering dust. At the same time removing all the huge number of Real Media files I've amassed would just be a waste.

Giving most of the files away in a free-for-all for existing webmasters would be one solution, with the cream of clips saved for a special page on TV Home (my favourites kind of thing) and maybe a page MHP Private Parts style with that new BBC One ident or whatever. I won't be updating 'fringe' sections like Childrens' or Mistakes anymore.

A note to Asa: Don't worry about demand for bigger, better files, some of us poor folks still on dial-up (without even the option of broadband!).

TV Home is still a good archive site, and not all TV sites need updating everytime there is a minor change. I'm sure any big changes would still be covered on the site in some form or another, but it's pretty much fine as it is.
