The poll of.... today.

It's evil and I know in mays they cannot compare:

TV Ark
- Only a couple of idents don't have video clips
- More material
- Easier Navigation

The TV Room
- Better quality clips
- More material

So what's your choice?

1. The TV Room has updated C4 material and RTE material - TV Ark has International channels and more

2. Media Websites doesn't allow a poll

I like them both in their own ways, but one of them has got quite small videos (can't remember which one though).

TV Ark, most updated ones have better quality but have that copyright thing on them. I can't stand the coloured bars and VT clock one.

The TV Room trounces TV Ark in this case as even though TVR doesn't have as large an archive as TVA does, it realises it's now 2005 rather than 1998 and has fairly decent sized video sizes and doesn't have virtually pointless 3 second bumpers at the start. That and TVA has Simon there and rather unceremoniously banned me from their piddling forum.

Nice thread, sure to start already known arguments over the two largest TV pres archive sites.

Still bitter Nini?

I find TV Ark is better for older clips, where as The TV Room is better for newer clips. They cater for different groups.

I'm actually quite surprised Nini is still banned from the TV Ark forum, after, what, ten months? All because she got into one argument with one member in one thread. If anything, the other member should have been banned, too.

I think TV Ark and The TV Room are both good in their own way, really, being the two big supersites. One problem with TV Ark is that the pictures for the most recent files are much bigger than all the others, meaning you scroll down a page with lots of small images, see a huge image, and then the rest of the page is small images again. The text descriptions can be amusing and interesting to read, though.

What's the point of this poll?

The TV Room and TV Ark , along with Transdiffusion and the Continuity Booth are four of the UK's best TV sites and have been put together by people who are passionate about TV, they are not there to compete for your interest.

Did you pop up just to gloat or something? I'd imagine you'd be too if some numpty bans you by IP over a piffling argument which didn't affect the troll you didn't appreciate. Pathetic so not really bitter, just feel it's another little element which makes TV Ark a touch incompentent and soft in the head. If anyone from TVA's forum wishes to continue this little thing then PM me, no point doing it here.

Are they not? Shame, it'd be like the ITV of old again. Nonetheless, RTP this thread if it's a bit daft.

Sorry you don't like these but we felt we had to do something, short of streaming, to make our clips less attractive to web snatchers and Ebay profiteers.

So you judge TV Ark not from its MATERIAL but from one person writing the editorial? Swap the playground for the pub Nini. I cannot comment personally on your ban, but obviously you did something to justify it.

The older files tend to be smaller because until last year, we relied on others' generosity to host the site and we needed to ensure bandwidth didn't go through the roof. We now rent our own server, which allows more room for experimentation with clip sizes.

We simply don't have time to re-encode older material AND maintain the supply of new clips. But as our archives transfer to DVD or other formats, this will happen eventually.

Listen here, mister. TV Ark is a not-for-profit site run for like-minded fans of television presentation. We are all volunteers who spend a considerable amount of our own time and money providing the service. Nobody is forcing us to and most people who log on get a great deal of pleasure from what we do.

If you have any CONSTRUCTIVE criticism we'll be pleased to hear from you. Otherwise, spare me the sour grapes and don't expect the forum ban to end any time soon.
