Am I the only have difficulties getting onto the site? I just get the 'This Page can't be displayed' thing. Is this happening to anyone else?

Has anyone seen the TV Ark Forum lately, some how the content of it doesn't fit in with the rest of the site!

Every thread seems to be a 10 year old talking complete rubbish like asking if OFCOM should get involved to stop ITN taking LNN over!, it makes the trolls that sometimes appear on here look like The Times letters page

"Im ITV Crazy" from the TV Ark forum registered here as "andre1234" the other day, but I was pleased to see that he has been banned.

I did used to be a regular at TV Ark's forum until the end of 2001 (I don't think I'm still registered with the number of times the forum software has changed), and I did have a look in there today for the first time in a while.

It's all a bit...weird. There seems to be a lot of people who from their writing style I'd say aren't out of primary school yet. The plight of 'I'm ITV Crazy' or whatever he's called is particularly interesting.

I am just out of primary school and I would say that my grasp of none vulgar vocabulary is slightly superior to some people on this forum. I am registered to TV Ark under the name BBCRules and I find that I'm ITV Crazy has some very valid points about all of the TV channels on terrestrial.

And now I will walk away.

Interesting message on TV Ark's front page:

Quote:
TVARK PUBLIC APOLOGY
STATEMENT ON BEHALF OF MR PETER OFFER

I would like to offer unreserved apologies to Mr Peter Offer, a BBC continuity announcer, over comments made about him recently on our BBC National pages.

The comments in question were a personal opinion and not based on any knowledge of Mr Offer or his working practices. I fully accept the use of the word "notorious" to describe Mr Offer was wholly inappropriate and on reflection are unable to substantiate its use.

TV Ark's BBC pages are intended as a genuine tribute to the work of everyone involved with BBC presentation. We are very proud of them and hope the BBC are too. We would never intentionally cause offence to anyone, and I very much regret that this has happened.

Oh dear. I'm not entirely surprised, the one thing that puts me off about that site is Simons editorialising - I don't care what you think, just tell me the facts as you would a layman

The original comments can be found on Google easily enough. Not the worst thing in the world to say; it hardly needed such a grovelling apology.

In my HUMBLE opinion, it's Simon pretending to be a Times editor and making a bit of a feature on TV Ark.

It doesn't need a whole page of prefuse apology - if he had said he was a cocaine addict, then yes. *Memories* And I feel stupid for not being able to say the precise word that was at issue, as I fear some geek will tell me to remove it from my post. It's an everyday word with everyday meaning that is as offensive as "kettle".

Mod Edit: thou shall have to be the geek in question then Smile It's obviously caused offensive to the individual in question so to stop anything similar for this site, I've edited the post a fraction...

it made me cringe to read it

it looks like he threatened to sue for lible, even though the original comment was hardly libelous and he would be laughed out of the office of any solicitor who he approached to take the case

sounds like a case of a big ego to me
