TV-Ark does seem to have a habbit of down offline / being 'upgraded'. Maybe they need to look for a more reliable/stable host that allows for high bandwidth usage, or prehaps look at a 'dedicated server'. There are a few hosts about that offer 'unmetered bandwidth'.

The purpose of this upgrade is so we can provide a more stable service. There are security issues with the current system and in the event of downtime everything has to be reloaded manually, which prolongs the offline period.

Unfortunately, I know little about servers and the technical side but a little more downtime now will hopefully mean less in future.

UPDATE: Upgrade successful but we still need to wait for the databases to be restored. So not long now.

Simon: The what's new page was advertising some new news clips, but the pics don't appear, so you can't click the links. Also, when I went to the news section, I couldn't find the clips.

The news clips worked fine when I added them the other day. It could be that this part of the database still hasn't been restored - sorry for any disappointment.

I can see what's happened - the site appears to be a backup taken before I added the new clips. I'll have to reload them!

Ah well. August 2012 will be just in time for them to display the London Olympics coverage in their "What's New" section.

It would also mean the site had been live for 14 years. There's a scary thought!
