I've set one up (April 2003)

This site closed in March 2021 and is now a read-only archive

I'm glad the Lounge has gone. I hope it never comes back.

TV Forum is about TV (funnily enough), not chatter about sexuality, Lee Stanley etc etc.

Yeah, sure, 'cause the Lounge was all about me Rolling Eyes

There you go, licking the moderators' arses again. I bet as soon as Lounge returns, you'll be one of the first to welcome it back and praise the moderators' decision.

You know, reading all this stuff about temporary lounges, it makes me wonder why some people are actually bothering to visit this site at all because it's obvious that the Lounge was their main priority. Yes, it was nice to have an area for general discussion, but if that's what you mostly came here for, and if you're missing it so badly, then in all honesty, you're not here for the right reasons.

I've said before that I thought that the Lounge should be closed. Arguments are a part of life, but some of the sheer nastiness that was around...it's amazing how people hide behind their computers. We all joke about not having a life, and sitting in our bedrooms pretending to be Huw Edwards/Nick Owen/whoever, but I'm beginning to wonder if some people on here actually have serious problems with themselves.

And what is some people's sudden problem with the mods? Have I missed something? I don't see any change in the moderation here. Yes, there's problems, and I wish some people would be dealt with, but I don't see the people complaining giving any real input into the matter. It's a bit like the Teaching Unions - they're critical of everything the government do yet seem to lack any real idea of how to improve things themselves. To be honest, I think some people won't be happy until the whole of TV Forum is shut down completely, and I can't say I'd blame Asa if he chose to make that decision.

One of the most sensible things said on the forum in a long time. A viewpoint I completely agree with.

I also agree and is something I've been saying for a while, but everyone just disregards the comments made and now it's coming to light the reality of the situation.

Edit: I also have no real plans to sign up to any other forum for a mere lounge forum.

I suppose I'll get flamed if I tell everyone that this is exactly the kind of situation that arises if a forum has too much moderation? Right, OK, I'll just stand being smugly superior in the corner, then.

I mean, "I agree to abide by the rules outlined"? FFS. Obviously the people running the forums have the right to put exactly what rules they like, but it's completely self-defeating. It just ends up with everyone whining and bleating, like they are here.

I have read through 8 pages here and there are 8 Lounges set up.
Little or no activity in any of them. Before the next person starts up a lounge may I suggest they read the previous 7 pages in this thread.

There really isn't a point of starting a new forum up just to be a temporary lounge. Especially if they are blank. The lounge wasn't really that good, but if you ask me which one should be used as a temp lounge, it should be RTS' forum, as it has a larg-ish community already.

Not everyones going to go to the same forum, so setting up one lounge won't work as everyone wants people to use theirs. So it is pretty pointless.

I'm also going to promote Global Centre Forums because the Global Centre Forums is the home of the Global Centre Forums which is owned by Global Centre. I am not recommending the Global Centre Forums as a temporary lounge but advertising the Global Centre Forums because I like to contradict myself. Please visit the Global Centre Forums and have a nice day.

ROD 'HERE IS THAT LINK AGAIN' SINGH

now, Rod Singh, creator, inventor and director of RTSTV.NET.TV.FORUM.URL.URL wants us to join his forum. i think this is a great idea. his style of moderation is second to none, lifting my morale from an all-time low to a new high:

let's just look at some of the more insightful things he's written:

Well it's good to see people browsing throught the forums at http://www.rtsnet.tv/

okay your forums are so cool that the only people who seem to post there are you and nob francis, if fact, in your so-called intellectual intercourse, 18 out of 20 topics were started by yourselves, and most of them only have a handful of replies (if any). i'm sure there is something interesting on your site, somewhere, eh rod?

PMSL!! Do you realise how much extra traffic you've just generated to the site?! Thank you!!

so much traffic, in fact, that you and nob francis had to start another thread.

With the greatest respect, I can do what the **** I like.

okay then, please sod off you tit

Well your more thick than I thought. As I mentioned quite clearly in previous posts made by me, my forum has two general conversation forums which can be used. The fact that it holds other forums is quite frankly irrelevant.

is this the sort of gimp you want to be moderated by. what a totally unprofessional way to handle conflict.

can we have that url again rod?
