Yes, sorry Jamez, you do seem to be getting it from all angles these days!

Poor Jamez he's getting it all isn't he!  So he's going to get another comment.  Is there no possible way of placing the watermark at the end of each tune, that way we can all enjoy the sound and it doesn't breech copyright regulations!

After what Gavin just said about Identz files being on iMesh, that has just made me a little bit cautious!

Unfortunatly all sounds must have the watermark over the actual music.

I just wonder now if TV Home will follow suit!

What's Imesh? And what sorts of things does it have?

Without knowing what format you were given the music as, it seems to me that the files are and always have been the property of the Beeb.

In which case why are you worried?

Although....if you ripped the files to an MP3 format and embedded the name 'www.identz.co.uk' into it (and I wouldn't know because I haven't looked), then yeah, I'd be worried too.

Given that the BBC featured this fine site on their own channel, I think we can assume that they know the content.

Despite your bad luck I don't think the collective webmasters out there should lay-down over the matter until, like you, they are legally required to.

Similar to Napster, there are an abundance of such programs available free to download (Knutella, Bear-Share, Aimster) which allow you to download and upload files person-to-person as it were. You're not downloading from a website, but from someone else's hard disc wherever they are in the world. The faster both your connection speeds are the faster you can get what you want.

You can download MP3's, video files (check out the South Park selection), documents, even full versions of various software packages.

When mates come round I have a virtual jukebox that allows me to have whatever they want to hear coming through the stereo (as an MP3) within minutes. (Actually on Friday we did a 42MB download of a Destiny's Child music vid in <10mins as the lads wanted a look at Biance...!)

Napster were slaughtered by the music industry's lawyers, but the legal world moves too slow for the net. All of the above mentioned programs are clones of napster. They can't stop them all at once so as soon as one shuts down, another starts.

There is of course a serious argument for copyright, royalties, artist fee's etc, but thats for scholars and judges. I'm one of 50000000 users online who are making the most of things as they currently are.

I don't think that the 'one rule for me and different one for someone else' should apply.

God I really really wish I could turn the clock back 2 months and not have put these f*cking MP3's on the net!

Why shouldn't it Jamez?

If TV Room, TV Home or any of the others had decided (just as you decided) to withdraw their files, you would have pulled all yours ? Sorry - I doubt it.

Its bad luck you got done but are you saying if you can't have them no one can? Oh yeah, you did say that in the other Identz thread.

I think Jamez is being careful to protect himself. It's only logical!

Quite right too. I'm in no way in dispute with that. Why keep telling Asa to watch out for sound-central though?

hmmm, there must be a way to get round this. Who actually told you to do this BTW?

Lucky I got all the sounds before this happened.

Yes! exactly right. Myself and Isonstine went to all the trouble of collecting the files, encoding, uploading, preparing a website etc. so why should another website just have the bloody bare-faced cheek of stealing my MP3's?

If they obtain their files from their own contacts then thats fine, but ripping off Identz content in the cause of feeding your insatiable thirst for clean mp3's then that is completly out of the question, and i'm quite annoyed that some of you are even contemplating this!

for f*cks sake, some of you are like leeches, out to get all you can with not even a utterence of appreiciation!

an email or PM now and again simply saying thanks would be nice, but no.

(there are 2 or 3 of you who have done so though, but there are still 10,000 other people who have downloaded the files!)
