Who provided the watermark Jamez? Quite annoying but better than nothing.

Even with the watermark, its still good to have a resorce where we can download nearly clean versions of the themes. Otherwise all we would have would be off air copys with talking over them from the presenters. Still with the watermark, we still get the themes and Jamez stays within copyright and MCPS laws.
And we are all happy,

I like the way there's a plug for identz in there first rather than the main copyright owner.

That wouldn't be the main reason for it would it? Wink

Hehehe - I wrote the scripts like that for a reason.

'This MP3 file was downloaded from Identz.co.uk and is copyright of the British Broadcasting Corporation 2001'

So I can instantly trace it if it appears on the net somewhere else, and it has the copyright info too.

BTW - you lot can stop emailing me now, the voiceover is not me! Smile

Question: what about short mp3s -- ones that just last a few seconds (stings, tags, some idents etc) -- will they still have the voice over?

The voiceover will follow straight after.

On a slightly OT subject, what does the copyright laws of the UK say about the video clips that appear on TV Home or Identz or on other sites? I get the idea that it's ok to publish and distribute them on a site, but what can you and can you not do with the clips?

I would have though that all the video files such as the RealMedia files on TV Home, The TV Room and various other websites would have been the target of the BBC and other broadcasters first, as their are many more of them on the these websites than clean MP3's of stings, vamps, tags etc.

Personally, it is when broadcasters get grumpy and start moaning that you have put up copyright material when I think a thermonuclear device should be detonated on them. Very Happy

I like to think I'm setting an example to the other TV sites by doing this more or less off my own back. I have been made aware of the laws Identz is breaching, and I have taken very swift and direct action to try and compensate for any copyright infringements.

Regarding the videos on the net, I don't mean to be picky, but TV Home's videos simply say 'All Copyright Acknowledged'. That is practically worthless.

I've been watermarking all Identz' MP3's this afternoon, and when they appear back online in the New Year they will sound like this: (this is an example of a yet unpublished MP3 of the News 24 flags countdown)

James, just listened to your 'watermarked' version. Do you have to speak over the tune or is it possible to include it to the end - i mean, when you 'create' your MP3 couldn't you just put it onto the end.

Anyway, loved it - is it your voice? Cos if it is you should be a continuity announcer cos your voice is very microphone friendly!

Have you actually been approached by either the BBC or their representatives? I'm wondering how you were 'made aware'. Is it conceivable that someone from BT has actually trawled through Identz? All your MP3 files were ZIPped and wouldnt necessarily be 'flagged' by someone checking for dodgy MP3's. Just curious.

Fortunately everything that was previously available in Identz practically still is, clean , on iMesh. Whenever I remember to log on to it that is. Along with every other tune etc I download.

I think its rediculous for everyone to lose all those lovely BBC tunes. What the hell harm can it do? Its not the type of thing my mates listen to so its not even as if I'm 'playing to an audience'!

Every song in the world is there for all to take, so the copyright issue is lost in a sea of copyright theft.

Poor Jamez he's getting it all isn't he! So he's going to get another comment. Is there no possible way of placing the watermark at the end of each tune, that way we can all enjoy the sound and it doesn't breech copyright regulations!
