I used to run a TV site which was contributed to and written by volunteers, and I know as well as anyone how difficult it is to get people to help build and maintain your content.
Especially when you go about it like this:
Quote:
We are always looking to expand the Media Journal empire, and would like to enrol 2 administrators (one who would be willing to pay for a [.com] domain name if possible).
Quote:
If you successfully recieve the job but modify the website in a negative way (e.g. inappropriate content or deletion of site) we will repeatedly contact you by post, phone and email and will post your IP address and personal information on international blogs and forums where millions of people can access it. You have been warned.
This isn't a mock, but I'm going to rate it: 0/10. Read on to learn why:
The design is average at best, the top banner trees design is completely irrelevant (this isn't a holiday site), but most importantly:
If you want people to take you seriously, you'd better stop hotlinking, and fast. Otherwise, I imagine people aren't going to be very happy with you.
Start getting your own material, for heaven's sake.
Remember, sites you steal from took a lot of effort to build up; people actually have spent time acquiring their own footage and putting it on file. It's not right to nick what they've recorded; so start doing as others have done, and start building your own collection.
A tip for you then: as a viewer of the site, I would be looking for content that is of good standard, and ideally, is not found elsewhere. Since almost all your Download content already exists on the web (because you're linking to it) the site serves absolutely no purpose when it comes to audio/video. You're using a service you haven't even paid for to host one mp3, and it requires left-clicking and waiting before you can even download it, which is ridiculous. If you're going to obtain your own content, why not shell out and treat yourself a proper bit of webspace, where people can view audio/video files with a single click, instead of that free rubbish.
Shouldn't you know? You did author this aborted crapfest of hotlinks, didn't you? Here's your hotlinking page and yeah, linking to the Channel 5 Launch RM hosted on TV Ark's server is indeed hotlinking and essentially leeching off their bandwidth, quelle surprise.
Just don't go "Oh, can't be hotlinking" and just go and copy the files to your webspace or rather some free hosting site's webspace, that's just making it worse and your site more dismal. Take it down, don't get ideas above your station like this one and please don't feign ignorance, it may be your only defence but it's poor.
