Yes, but bbc.co.uk gets a (big) guaranteed income every year. itv.com probably only gets a few measly pennies from Charles Allen every blue moon.

true and why would ITV want their websites bigger than the BBC? Its a Television Network not an expert web service. Not bad site though, provides most of my needs for movies, sport and news!

I disagree, the content is terrible (and the design is still poor). I remember being asked to look up the latest FA Cup draw results - and for some reason BBC wasn't working as a new internet proxy system was being installed. So I went to look on ITV Sport, and not one mention of the draw. In the end I used BBC WAP to find out.

well good old BBC. As I have already said, ITV is a Television provider not a Web Provider. And ITV's site looks a damn site better than the BBC one, if you think different then you need you eyes testing. Anything is better than the BBC's site design.

Funny how the BBC's site is so successful then. I mean who rushes to ITV.com to look for news/weather etc etc. The site does suit the ITV channels however, slow, naff and very basic.

The BBC site design is spot on, simple, useful and minimalist, it puts content at its core and not flashy graphics

THAT is good site design.

Theres only one thing I don't like about bbc.co.uk is this grey bar...

Even just changing the colour to black would be better.

i dont like the hompage of bbc.co.uk and the bbc one homepage
BN
Breakfast News
Relating to bbc.co.uk, i have noticed that BBC News no longer have the 'BBC NEWS' banner on every page, just on the main page. Doesn't help them reinforce the BBC News brand does it?

I guess everyone has different tastes but I like the grey bar because it fades into the background, I don't have to pay much attention to it, it's there, it does it's job but isn't in my face.

I personally think that 'sexy graphics' should be sacrificed for usable design, good content and relevant images.

Neutral/bold but single colours in simple paterns like square blocks off set by strong photos is much better than over the top bevels and effects.

I DO like the blue and yellow of ITV but I personally think it is spoilt by the horrible bevels and lighting effects.

For reference this is the gateway (BBC Intranet) top bar:

I'm surprised we haven't had the group of morons asking how they can see Gateway outside the BBC or asking for screenshots to wank over.

I did a search for "Regional news" on itv.com today, the results page read
Your search returned no results

read into that what you will

Makes a lot of difference - just about the only site to be regularly updated is the Tyne Tees site - and that's out of the control of the ITV.com/itvregions.com team.
