I see we now have a clear case of the moderators getting round the profanity filter in the way that they run the forum.

If Mr McLargehandle's name is a candidate for starring out in the text of a post, then that ought to also be the case in the blue writing in the left hand column where the name is shown.

Double standards AGAIN.

For pity's sake Nick, don't you have anything better to moan about? Where's all this double standard rubbish coming from?

I altered the swear word filter a couple of hours ago to add the word (or rather edit it so it accepted any letter before nob) blissfully unaware that there was a member with that name here. Now as this member signed up before the change, obviously the name was going to get though. Clear?

Can I really ask why bother with a filter?
Please do not give the family site excuse - if you are pretending anyone old enough to read this forum won't be exposed to such terrible language elsewhere then you're more naive than my toenails.
It just seems like an excuse to play away in admin-panel-land.

To be fair, certain words do cause problems for people wanting to read the forum from work machines

Yeah - it makes the site accessible anywhere by blocking the obscenities.

And there was me thinking it was only Cinderella's coach that disappeared at Midnight.

I take it somebody's sense of humour has a similar characteristic.

Must have. I missed the sarcasm.

I think I've had too many people complaining about the site and its members over the past month and it’s made me over sensitive to criticism. I apologise.

Err, why not? Newspapers can be picked up and read by anyone and do they have to adhere to starring out certain words? Yes. You're not offended by the words, I'm not offended by the words but some people are.

Any action I do does have good intent and can easily be reversed. Hell, I've not touched the control panel or made any alterations to the site for months! I have better things to do than regularly tweak a swear filter list.

Indeed! Although I remember installing Cyber Patrol once and looking at the rude word filter on there. That provided much amusement for me at the time being 15. But then I decided to remove CP and then my PC wouldn't work again so I lost all my files and had to reformat the whole system! Surely it's illegal for software to cause your system to be wiped without your express permission?
