I like to watch my regional news on the BBC website, which still uses Realmedia as one of the main options. Since Windows Media doesn't work without crashing on my mac, I use Realmedia.

I don't know of ANY other website that uses Realmedia anymore, i'm surprised it's still being made, do any other websites use it?

TVA still use Realmedia (though I can rarely get the forced plugin to work in my copy of FF these days). I'm also planning something with it for an upcoming feature. Neither really class as a major website though!

It's always quite surprising just how fast the most dominant video format on the net almost completely vanished into obscurity.

It's still used a lot by foreign TV channels on their sites though they tend to be less major/poorer countries. Embarassed

apart from legacy BBC use and on ident sites I can't say I've ever came across it anywhere else in a long time.

Only real use (sorry) that I use it for now is it's ease of recording YT clips.

Many radio stations who use Shoutcast to stream offer a RealAudio stream.

Youtube also encodes in 3GP which is used by RealPlayer on older Nokia smartphones.
