Oh, so that ITV4 site still exists?
This is the new one: http://www.itv.com/page.asp?partid=6990
Thanks.
Didn't realise. It would make sense for ITV to redirect that old URL to the new one, but there you go.
The new sites for 2/3/4 look nice - except the streaming videos on the right hand side of the pages seem to be in 16:9 and are being squashed into 4:3.
Also, I can never make out why there has never been a proper ITV1 website - just the main homepage.

How about ITV4's site? Not been updated since launch - and still says it's on Freeview channel number 30.
Also, why is ITV4's http://itv4.itv.com - and the ITV2 and ITV3 sites don't follow suit?

More news from MediaGuardian today about the new site. They've hired Annelies van den Belt as managing director of the broadband team, with the goal of launching the ambitious new portal by April. They plan to make a large chunk of ITV's content available to view through a media player embedded in every page. It will offer 1,000 hours of programmes from the ITV archives.
The relaunched site will also feature whatever is currently running on ITV's television channels, catch-ups for 30 days after a show is on, previews and downloads. Only some premium content, including certain sports coverage, will be charged for access.
A further article suggests that the site will actually launch in March, and is reported to have cost ITV £20 million. The second link below has a tiny shot of what the new site will look like, and it looks a lot better than what they've had.
They want the new website to challenge the BBC's, although that will be a tough job.

Not a hope in hell. Especially once the BBC iPlayer is launched.
Well at least they're doing something. The site is currently a shambles but they're investing a lot of money into it. It's very easy to write it off, but they still show some of the most popular shows in the country and I can see this new player being very popular.

I'm surprised they're offering the content for free, even with advertising! Look at ITV Mobile, you have to pay 60p a day to watch ITV Play!
I'm assuming the BBC I-player will be free to view as this can be the only reason why ITV are offering their own stuff free. Even Channel 4 charge for their content!
