Ooh, I just logged on to catch up on IAC and the new ITV Player site gave me a bit of a shock. It looks really good. Need to up the picture quality on the vids though but still a massive improvement.
I am loving the new look ITV Player. I have been saying to them for a while they need to give ITV Player a site that looks completely different to the rest of itv.com and it looks like they listened to me
Am glad they have made the video player a bit bigger, and like the 'turn out the lights' feature. Also nice to have a search box at the top.
Well done ITV. You have done some great work with itv.com lately.
Just observing the new look ITV Player and it seems that ITV want to add more extra things like dim lights feature to the videos because of the spece on the grey bar. Maybe adjustable player width or something. Although quality could be improved I belive that ITV Player is as good as BBC Iplayer and although some will argue that the Iplayer has more features at the end of the day all I want is to watch a video nothing more then that and this new ITV Player does just that and ITV has 30 day catch up something that BBC doesn't.
The dim the lights feature actually makes viewing worse. The black ITV player background is dark black but when you switch on 'dim the lights', the whole background goes light grey. If anything, it should turn everything almost completely black, otherwise it's a redundant feature.
It's so, so much better now though. So much easier to find what you're looking for. They also seem to have sorted out their favicon.
Going forwards, I'd like to see them integrate the 'live' channel pages into the new look ITV Player style, and offer a lower quality video stream for when you're on a slow connection. It also feels a bit redundant having the address as 'itv.com/itvplayer' when 'itv.com/player' also works.

Not totally redundant as it disables the links on the page which is handy for me as I like to switch between tabs with programmes on and I always manage to accidently click a link meaning I have to watch all the (endless) ads to get back to where I was. But yes, grey instead of black is a bit stupid. The background's that nice I'm tempted not to click on the "lights-off" button at all!
