They've changed the placeholder picture for the Video Player - it's now silver - looks nice.

I'm trying to watch last nights Tonight, but its not working. The ad plays, the programme starts but it only plays up to 1:09 and then stops, goes onto another advert then a "Watch ITV comedy on ITV.COM" slide. which just plays for the half-a-hour which is when Tonight should be playing.
Can anybody help?

Have ITV given up on their Windows Media streaming...? http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/broadcasting/a91185/itv2-partners-with-bebo-for-online-video.html

I don't think that's what the article is implying at all. It's just that ITV2 will make some shows available to watch on Bebo. Just because Bebo uses Flash doesn't mean ITV will start using it for everything, nor that the content on Bebo will use it instead of Windows Media..surely?

Having said that, they ought to sort something out soon so that Mac users can view their content. It's pretty poor.

ITV is to revamp its broadband catch-up TV offering and is considering rebranding the online video service less than a year after it first launched.

The overhaul of the 30-day catch-up service, a key part of ITV.com's overall broadband TV service, will be followed by the first major marketing campaign to drive usage since launch at the end of July.

ITV is aiming to incorporate lessons learned from almost nine months of data on broadband viewing habits to try and ramp up the catch-up service's traffic.

Navigation improvements to the catch-up TV service will include introducing the ability to search for programmes in different ways, such as by genre, as well as highlighting more prominently popular shows viewers might have missed on TV.

Other new features that are being considered for the revamp include offering recommendations on programmes to watch and highlighting "most watched" shows online.

ITV is also planning to back up the new-look catch-up service with a major marketing campaign, something analysts have argued needs to be done to help drive awareness and usage.

Broadcasters including ITV, Channel 4 and the BBC have high hopes of being able to bring in extra revenue from the so-called "long tail" of recently aired and archive TV content via their broadband TV services.

ITV has ambitious plans to be earning £150m a year in revenues from online services such as ITV.com by 2010.

Last month the BBC unveiled an "Amazonisation" to enhance the usability of the iPlayer service including a personal recommendation system.

The new look ITV.com looks excellent - well much better than before. Very Happy

Much cleaner, that awful purple animated box on the homepage is gone, everything seems to work much less glitchy, faster and better live video (is it still using Windows Media Player or is it just Flash now? The FAQs say you still need Windows Media - but do you?).

On closer inspection the video streaming is indeed in Microsoft Silverlight and I've tried it in Firefox but it just seems to prompt me to install Silverlight to view the video - even though it's already installed. It also shows up in the enabled Addons in Firefox but it still prompts me. Odd.

Nevertheless, it's still much much better. Smile

But why oh why do they insist on left-aligning the pages - in my opinion sites looks better when everything's in the middle.

It's utterly unusable on the Mac. Hope they're fixing it.
