It's amazing how we've gone from loving the new design, when we saw that black screenshot, to dreading it, from the design on the preview site. I think the design used on the preview site is awful, extremely bland, when there was such an opportunity.

I think black as a background would have been awful and made it more difficult to read text. Having the ITV Video Player on the left would have been distracting for me, as I'd rather read first then watch. I much prefer this design, sure it’s pretty basic but it’s clean, crisp and I like the navigation.

Sorry, that was a bit of a sweeping generalisation. I take your point.

This is bad, the old Play site was much better. It's almost funny watching ITV screw this relaunch up. We were promised a revolutionary redesign to take the site into the 21st century; but judging by the preview sites it looks like ITV has actually taken a step backward rather than forward. I only hope they take heed and don't c*ck up the rest of the site but unfortuantely I think the design displayed in the preview sites is here to stay

How is that so ? The new sites have increased content and features, ITV1, 2, 3 & 4 are streaming live there are full episodes of programmes (albeit soaps at the moment) and it's a modern, clean layout.

What exactly do you want ?

I think what lets down the new site is the rather anti-climax with the new video play. It requires Windows, IE, Flash, and Windows Media Player. If they had been able to make it work in Flash it would still be hard to web snatch and would be accessible for more users.

I think the ITV Play site did need a revamp as with the loss of the channel many of the programmes went and it looked rather empty. I image the big gap between ad and menu is due to the intention to display larger adverts, which sometimes appear on the main ITV.com website.

this just looks so horrible. the layout is an improvement over previously, but everything else is just really really ugly.

with a little bit of work and small tweaking, this could have been so much better.

This is a rather good design, and therefore not suited to ITV!

Actually, the only thing that makes that dark design any better are the clouds and the black backing. Black can make anything look classy anyway. Colour aside, its actually not too different from the design online now, especially the way in which everything is crammed together with little spacing.

Its been clear to me for ages that the clouds and the black are what help make that design, but what a design it is, it's nice. On the preview site, I think it needs something to break the site up, such as the clouds background.

The new ITV.com logo is now on the homepage. Does this mean they are not going to change the homepage design?

Interestingly the old ITV soaps site is now defunct.

Go to itv.com/coronationstreet and you're now redirected to preview.itv.com/soaps/coronationstreet. Same with Emmerdale, /soaps, etc etc

Also all links on homepage about Corrie link to the new site.
