Sorry if this has been mentioned, but does the new ITV.com use flash for its video encoding? Hope so, means us Linux and Mac users can watch things easily Smile

I think I read somewhere ITV said it was Windows Media Rolling Eyes

EDIT, yep: "The new video player on the new site will be 4:3 (320x250), with all 16:9 material being played in the correct aspect ratio with blackened top and bottom.

All content on the new ITV broadband website will be streamed at 384 kbs on Windows Media Player, the player itself will be ITV’s own, developed around the Windows guidelines.

Cheers.

ITV"

Wonderful, not Widescreen.

WTF?!!!
Even Channel 4 and the BBC stream in widescreen, 384kbps is hardly high quality, more like decent. Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Not long now...!

Wonder if they include The Bill as part of their soaps catch-up section? Not too bothered about the rest of the soaps...

I wonder if this will launch in the early hours of the morning or... in the day.

Probably 11:59pm (New York time naturally) on Tuesday! Laughing

Wonder if there will be much downtime before the launch...

i doubt it.
it being itv, i would imagine a messy transfer from the old site to the new site; but, who knows, i could be proved wrong.
i really, really, really hope they surprise everyone with the original black design. otherwise, i'll be disappointed.

Still trying to work out why you thought that, I mean, you've clearly been visiting the site every day, you must know what it looks like.

Yes strange isnt it mr jugametimbers.

Sadly though I think the relaunch will be in stages, starting with soaps tomorrow and the left of the site will be left as it is i.e. if you go onto itv.com tomorrow it'll be the same, but the soaps bit will be changed.

Jugametimbers, that's one even I didn't use. But then I used grammar and punctuation to harass so there you go.

Well as the time approaches 7am I haven't spotted any changes, I imagine the home page and channel pages are/would be the first to be updated. Obviously the ITV budget doesn't pay for overnight staff to make the big updates.

There is a link on the home page to a preview of the new soaps section of the site. I don't like it, it is the same as it is now and the video player wont work for security reasons and when I install the things it asks me to install they wont install as there is no such componant. The video player is also on the right, the most annoying place ever! The 'new look' site is also ugly. I hope the whole ITV site don't adopt this look.

Well, because I use Firefox it seems I cannot view the video.

That's good isn't it.
