New ITV Player launches with pay mechanism (January 2006)

Nice addition to the menu bar with News added to the main links with drop downs to regions.

Much better - nice to see the News site isn't being hidden away anymore.

One would assume Sport will end up on the top menu as well soon once all the Sport pages are under the new look.

Does anyone else get this problem with the More From ITV text though?

The "T" is smaller than the other two letters?

It's been like that since the new homepage launched months ago for me.

It does however show up with the correct size lettering on other pages however (Sport and News for example - although the News menu says More ITV rather than More From ITV).

Nice changes.

I'd like News to get a second menu like Sport does, with various categories I.e. UK Politics etc. A region drop down on that menu would make more sense than the overall masthead.

I just wanted to say how brilliant the ITV News site now is. Ever since I first got online in 1999 the BBC News web site was my preference for online news. That persisted until just a few weeks ago when I decided ITV News was good enough to replace it as my default source. It's just so easy to use. No longer need to search through pages and pages of stories on the BBC, when ITV use the timeline format. It's just brilliant; I can't praise it enough. I never thought the day would come when I'd give up on BBC News, but it has. I'm sure there must be others who have made a similar decision. I wonder what the BBC web site's traffic is like since the new ITV site launched? It must have taken a hit, surely?

I must say I rarely used the ITV News site previously as there was very little to read and therefore just wen't to the BBC News site by default. However since the relaunch I've been using the site much more - roughly 80:20 in ITV's favour. It's just simply laid out and many of the articles are pretty indepth. Also it seems a lot less 'static' than the BBC News site, it feels like there is a new article popping up every 5 minutes and therefore before you know it you've spent half hour on the site reading articles you probably wouldn't have normally.

I imagine the BBC site will have taken a little hit, but there'll always going to have an big advantage simply because of how may people visit the homepage, UK's 5th most visted site IIRC (and therefore more footfall for the news site) compared to the ITV.com in 73rd place. Intresting according to Alexa ITV.com has increased it's reach by 17.4% in the last 3 months wheras BBC.co.uk decreased it's reach by 5.6% in the same period.

Is anybody else having problems with ITV Player? On RockMelt I get an 'internet connection failure' message, and on IE and Chrome I get the adverts then its goes black and doesn't play.

All been very quiet on the ITV.com front, though I can see big changes coming...

I would assume a new ITV Player is on the way what with the micropayments and hopefully a fully relaunched Sport website.

New mobile and desktop football websites launch.

It certainly is nice to see more of the stream being introduced but the lack of colour makes the site seem slightly drab.

Also nice that they have introduced a button that lets you jump to the top of the page however they could of made it a little less obtrusive.

Agreed it's a tad bland but still infinitely better than the old site.

A brilliant framework from which to build for sure, and the unification of ITV.com is really coming into place.

Can't wait for the ITV channel rebrand which should herald some tweaks to the website and probably coincide with the new ITV Player (with Pay model integrated) launching, which I reckon is going to be excellent.

Should think it'll all be in place by October.

Interestingly saw a tweet about ITV News's new site: "Yesterday the 4-month old http://www.itv.com/news/ had as many unique visitors in one day as the old site managed in a month #itvnews"

Brilliant, and well deserved.

It's very good news, I must admit I do check the site throughout the day like every few minutes if I'm waiting around. One thing I do miss though is the full program.

ALso I have just seen my first ever ITV Player interactive ad, I saw an advert on the Corrie site detailing the new advertisements. It's quite useful to find out more on something.
