New ITV Sport design based on News, again by Made by Many: http://www.itv.com/sport/football/euro/

Quote:
Football fans will be able to enjoy (or commiserate as the case made be) this summer's European Championship via a split-screen facility on ITV Digital’s dedicated Euro 2012 website.

Optimised for both smartphones and tablets, the site will broadcast any games being shown on the ITV channel at the top of the webpage while below will be a rolling real-time news feature.

Here viewers will be able to get updates to other games including goal highlights, match reports and social media activity such as Twitter updates.

Stat fans will have access to group details, goal scoring charts and match data on the right-hand side of the page providing multiple ways of covering the tournament from one webpage all the way up to where England lose on penalties and beyond.

ITV Digital’s Euro 2012 website follows the launch of the ITV News site earlier this year and again sees ITV partner with Made by Many, a digital innovation and service design company

REALLY nice on computer and tablet, with a slick mobile site too.

Also a new Sport homepage design: http://www.itv.com/sport/

As yet Football and other sports unchanged.

Wonder if they'll do ITV Player too?

Very nice, it will be interesting to see how it works when a game is played. The design looks very nice.

ITV should get Made by Many to rearchitect the whole site with this system.

The Euro 2012 site isn't just News with a different colour scheme. I love it!

The News site should be updated with the unified header and a new menu like the Sport one.

At the moment the News site is completely standalone.

Good reaction on Twitter to the new Sport site. Julian March has promised all areas of the Sport site will adopt the new design.

Anyway, next up ITV Player I hope! Laughing

Ah, that's good to hear, that is the only thing atm that is letting the sport site down. I suppose it's best to launch the Euro site first, see the reaction and gradually role out for other sports.

I echo the comments about Made By Many doing the ITV Player site!

From Broadcast :

Traffic to the ITV News website has more than tripled since it was relaunched earlier this year.

The beta website, centred on a 24-hour rolling news stream, was switched on in March and its number of monthly unique users hit 1.5 million, up from 500,000.

The progress continued last month when unique user numbers to ITV News rose to 1.8 million over the four-week period.

It is understood that around half the traffic is being driven by the regional sections of the website, where users are accessing information from newsrooms in locations including Wales, London and the South West.

Furthermore, ITV claims that 30% of users are accessing the website through their mobiles.

Although the traffic does not compare with the likes of BBC News and Sky News, ITV chief executive Adam Crozier made a point of highlighting the news site’s performance at the broadcaster’s annual general meeting last week.

The transformation of ITV News has been consistently marked out by Crozier as a key plank in ITV’s online rejuvenation. It is hoped a strong news proposition will help itv.com become more of a destination for users.

That's encouraging, particularly from a starting point of little more than a glorified holding page, with no loyal viewer base.

itv.com, doing something right.

Sorry if this has been mentioned before but I note that the ITV News mobile site seems to have been designed with retina displays in mind:

It's good to hear that there has been an increase in website visitors, some things though that I would like to see improved would be a greater emphasis on the faces of the regions.

The old sites had pictures of the main presenters on there backgrounds this made the site a lot more personal, now it's just a generic website.

Also I would like to see separate website divisions for places like Meridian which has two sub regions. Reading the news in Portsmouth doesn't really have much interest to me.

It would also be good for them to incorporate some kind of weather site both nationally and regionally as finding forecasts are not that easy, Julian March twitter strapline says that he is head of Head of Digital Media for News, Sport & Weather at ITV. The fact that he says weather would suggest the possibility of a dedicated weather site.

The links for things like weather, travel, about us, sport etc could also move someone else on the page as they take up space for stories on the sidebar.

Finally I'd like to see the return of the full programme just because I like to catch up with the news if I miss it on TV and really find it easier scrolling through a program as opposed to going through a timeline.

I agree there's work to do - but they're clearly improving it all the time.

Both ITV News and ITV Sport are retina display compatible now on iPhones, for example, when ITV News certainly wasn't at launch. Tiny touches. Noticeable. Slick.

They've already said changes will be implemented - these guys know exactly what they're doing, as demonstrated by the basically unanimously positive reaction to the ITV News site launch. And the increased visitor numbers speak for themselves.

The Euro 2012 site has shown just how versatile the system they've architected is. It's both consistent with design ideals and bespoke for the site's purpose (unique content such as tables, templates for each team etc).

If ITV have any sense they'll go into big partnership with Made by Many, and continue to recruit them to overhaul the rest of the entire site into one, cohesive whole. If they need to invest in the company to speed that up, then so be it.

They'd be stupid to go with any other agency for any new website launch now after such excellent results with the unique, bold and technically excellent efforts of Made by Many.

There are too many points to make on why these sites are particularly excellent.

The sites are totally device agnostic, rendering brilliantly with optimised display on phones and tablets. The sites render amazingly on my computer, my phone and my iPad, with all the content rearranged and displayed in touch-friendly mode.

They have a unique selling point in the "live feed" idea, and the implementation is second to none. It is so slick, even to alert you to new stories with a notification if you're scrolling down.

As said before, the Euro 2012 site has proven that the system they have created is versatile to adapt for necessary content layouts (static pages and such). Which in my opinion should lay a precedent for all key areas of ITV.com to get the "Made by Many" treatment in the near future.

I'd like to see ITV Sport fully migrated, then a relaunch of Weather, and I'd like that to also coincide with tweaks to the masthead and navigation to make discovery of the various sites clearly laid out (especially regional content).

ITV Player and the TV Guide sections should merge into one Player and be the next big launch. This, along side the News and Sport sites would be the last nuclear launch to join the others and represent the new ITV.com.

News Sport Weather ITV Player

Beyond that point, looking at big show sites like Coronation Street, X Factor etc and migrating them to a MBM-style design would be welcomed.

I can see a lot of it happening, you know. ITV are serious about the digital age, Crozier's said many times he will overhaul the lot - and it makes perfect sense to employ the agency that has produced a 3 times increase in ITV News hits.

Nice addition to the menu bar with News added to the main links with drop downs to regions.
