ITV Local has some great content but I'm not that impressed with the design of site. I really think it would benefit from being integrated more into itv.com - maintain the itv local brand but adopt the design template of itv.com. Perhaps take the main itv.com navigation menu and add ITV Local to the menu bar to increase click-throughs between the two sites.

The whole thing is too complicated. Too much JavaScript that doesn't degrade gracefully.

I know it's built on the Narrowstep system but when will web developers learn that all the really successful sites keep things simple and work seamlessly on all platforms and browsers.

ITV Local is a right pain to use on anything other than a Windows PC.

If they had a simple Flash video interface that allowed people to watch their regional news on demand without any hassle I'm sure it would be very successful.

And Standby is right, it needs to be a full part of ITV.com

You're right of course, but I do think that bringing the two sites closer together is an issue that should be looked at once itv.com is running smoothly. It would be to the benefit of both sites. At the very least ITV Local could take the masthead to simplify navigation between the two.


Something like this would present a more consistent brand identity online:

I think it will be very unlikely, I remember seeing that picture during to the lead up of the launch of the ITV website, I think it was just an idea during the lead up to the launch of what it could look like if it was integrated into the site.
