All very meh. The ITV homepage now just basically the ITV Player landing page. Making it even harder to find programme specific websites of which there are very few anyway.
No links to the main news headline, just a link to the ITV News website. Sport seemingly sidelined completely but they never made any effort there anyway.
So the same mess C4 made then. Fair to say as far as programming websites are concerned their best days are behind them - nowadays it's a Twitter feed and the last few episodes.
Launched on Android too - looks nice enough and easy to get to the live streams - no pre-roll ads for me there other than the ITV Hub "come on in" sting.
It's appeared on BTTV YouView during the day, higher bit rate I'd say than previous player, but still SD only. Having to sign in online or on Apps is annoying as anything. Nothing to attact me to 'come on in'. Major downer.
I actually like the name of the on-demand service. It's more original than saying Player at the end of saying the channel's name. I wonder how long it'll take for other networks to steal the "Hub" name.
Seems content protection is being launched on ITV HUB....
This from YouView describing one feature of the latest software release.....
This latest software contains updates to the content security for On Demand players on the box. This means that the content in the ITV Hub will only work when played through an HDMI cable connected to the TV. If using a SCART cable the content will not playback and you will receive a blank screen, with the audio playing and an ITV logo on screen.
