This is a really effective system, and I think that it is a good feature, not just a novelty. However, I note there is slight lag at times with the numbers appearing, so you get the channel name appearing before the full number sequence. Also, I'd make the suggestion that entering numbers like 1569 is disabled, as although UTV and STV are in the 1000's, the option to type the rest could confuse. All in all, a great little feature!

New Navigation - Update
If the first three digits do not correspond to a known page number, the next digit pressed will start a new sequence. Pressing '0' will not do anything if it would be the first digit of the sequence. Pressing '+' or '-' on the numeric keypad
when on a known page number
will go up or down to the next page in sequence (a bit like BBC Red Button). The ability for four-digit pages number will remain to allow for 'sub-pages'. Digit images are pre-loaded.
Bear in mind this is only me playing with coding, just to see if it's worthwhile.
As ever, The Ident Gallery leading the way with clever coding to make interesting new features.
However, I have fast find turned on in Firefox so it doesn't actually work for me... How about an input box and button?

Will have to investgate that. So many browsers all want to do things different ways when it comes to Javascript and key press event capturing. What was fine in IE8 and Chrome didn't work in IE9 etc, etc. Thanks for the feedback.

I'm appalled at the clear Murdoch bias on the website, Andrew. What about us Virgin users?

As long as you wash 'em down and put them back where you found them...
No, you're quite right. I was thinking of how to incorporate Freeview, BT, Virgin and Sky. With a bit more free time, it'd probably be quite simple to code using a cookie and providing the option to chose.
