I'm usually a sucker for this kind of thing but whether it's because I feel it's been done better before or the execution is off, I'm not getting it. That "juice" one in particular looks a directional mess.

I'm just trying to understand how the visuals relate to the channel. In what way is it 'Watch'?

It looks more like an arts channel TBH, nice, but doesn't reflect the audience.

I'm pretty sure that's a new feature. Certainly, I couldn't watch them a few days ago on my Fruit devices.

It's a small concern, but in the four years it's been on-line, only one person has directly made a comment to the site that iOS devices wouldn't play the videos - and that was about a week ago.

I updated the player a few days ago, and now (rather pleasingly) I get comments that they work!

I always thought that it was just because you used Flash and eventually you would change.

Granted, the player has always been in flash, but the last flash-encoded video was uploaded in November 2009, and since them they've been H.264/AAC in an MP4 container. There were download links for every video - which I removed once I'd found someone posting under 'theidentgallery' on YouTube. These are now re-instated.

I've used the Longtail JW Player for several years now and have tried to keep up with the updates, and a while back I did re-code the site's player page to use the automatic switching between Flash and HTML5. However, it threw up a couple of cosmetic issues I didn't like and so reverted to the Flash-only coding.

Last week, following a quite snide comment posted on one of the videos (and a poo retort from me Embarassed ) I revisited the player's coding and worked around the cosmetics to get the dual Flash / HTML5 embedding working.

As I've no access to fruit based OSes - or most mobile devices (apart from Nokia Belle - and it still doesn't like it) - I'd no way of knowing that it would change anything to the good, but I'm glad it has.

One thing I have noticed is that Nokia Belle is picky about the H.264 profile used for coding and I;m wondering if it is the same for other devices? Unfortunately, even if it the case, at the moment I don't have neither the time or the patience to go back and recode two thousand videos!! Sorry!
