Just to let you know GH Online now has its own forum. This can be accessed via www.grangehill.net or directly at www.grangehill.net/forum/index.php.

Come on, sign up now! The forum is for all ages and includes seperate boards for the main eras of the show. We are particularly keen to attract members in the 10-16 age group as they are, of course, Grange Hill's target audience. So if you know someone in this category, tell them about us! We also welcome applications from Grange Hill cast and crew members, old and new.

Membership is subject to approval and your account will require activation. But if you are (or ever have been) a Grange Hill fan, come and join us!

I never really liked Grange Hill as a younger child - didn't like the Cocky of it, if that makes sense...

When I got older though it seemed to grow on me slightly.

Sorry, absolutely pointless comments, I've just realised, but what's a tppence worth for, eh?

Did you mean cockiness or Cockney? GH need to preserve the latter; as you'll see on the forum, the latest newcomer for Series 27 is a Mancunian teenager.

Nothing against Northerners but they don't fit the identity of Grange Hill.

Time for a spot of brain-picking. The GH Forum now has 29 members and obviously we look forward to more. However, it appears we are not attracting school-age members (the 10-16 age group) or many girls, for that matter. Obviously this concerns me greatly as Grange Hill is a young peoples' programme and we need to attract the core audience.

Has anyone got any suggestions? Are we doing anything wrong? Any hints gratefully received (please, NO wise cracks about our motives). Once again, if you have any Grange Hill-mad younger siblings/cousins etc. or you know anyone who's a GH fan no matter what age, please spread the word.

With you help, GH Online forum could become Grange Hill's unofficial "voice of the pupils"!

Perhaps if the website had been created by someone who is a more suitable age, it would attract younger users.

Perhaps it's something to do with that kids today want to escape school - not see more of it, so don't actually watch it. Grange Hill has been uncool round here for as long as I've been alive - I really can't see that changing.

What part of "no wise cracks" don't you understand? The age of the administrator should be irrelevant if we can attract current viewers. It's not as if the average age of the mods does TV Forum any favours.

It wasn't a wise crack. If you were the average age of a current Grange Hill viewer, you'd be more in touch with what they want. Now you're attracting older nostalgia fans.

The average age of the TV Forum mods is about the average age of the posters here.

But is there any reason why we can't attract today's fans? One of the reasons I set up GH Online is because I felt what there was on the web about Grange Hill was from a nostalgic point of view. What GH Online aims to do is cover the whole run, in a "present looking back" sort of way. The forum is meant to reflect the parent site.

Recently we took the step of introducing seperate boards for each decade, which we hope will show people we aim to cater for all. Another bone of contention for us at present is attracting cast members to join a closed forum. In light of their recent letter I suspect Mersey TV have warned the actors not to speak to us. Any suggestions how we can overcome this?

To be perfectly honest - I would be freaked if some guy pleaded for everyone to 'join us in our forum'.
It just ain't right.

Why not? Isn't word of mouth how most of these things catch on?

No - Google is.
