That's a big hint - they've merged. As it says at http://www.russ-net.freeserve.co.uk, Crossover will now be part of TV Home.

I had to check my own words on this but under no circumstance have I used the word merged.

I have given Asa the opportunity to have my site which I am very thankful that he has accepted. crossover on tv home will be like having an extra section on the site, once clicked it will have a further menu to all the usual stuff you use to get on crossover.

From then on, it will be Asa's website and anyone control I do have will be very limited, besides I won't be here soon!

But the point is we can still access all of the material! Anyway, you may not have used that word, (merged) but you almost meant that they had merged - in fact, Crossover will bwe like Central TV - losing its identity as a separate domain!

I'm afraid that it's you making the assumption of the merger. You will still be able to see the site on the ye olde freeserve address until freeserve suddenly realise I no longer use the account and I get booted off.

The only chance of seeing any sort of update will be from tv home. Asa and co will have full control over the site where as me, well I will be leaving somewhere else in the country!

Moving house doesn't stop you using your freeserve account, Russ! Although leaving the country might.

No, but no longer logging through Freeserve's ISP or the net and might kick the webspace off.

Cheers, Asa

Thanks Asa.

James, please note that as of the end of this very month of July, I will be NO LONGER online for the long term. I do not know when I will return hence why I have decided to give the site to someone else.

You are right in your statement that moving house wouldn't stop me using my freeserve account, however wherever I go, I won't be able to go online and dial up my freeserve account as I won't be taking my computer to begin with.

As Asa points, the longer you don't dial up an a/c, the larger the chance that the ISP will take your a/c away. I'm not sure what the terms and conditions are with freeserve as it's either a month or 3 months before booting off time but having said that, a friend's freeserve site is still on for over a year now and he hasn't been online since that date.

Then Crossover could survive in its original form for quite a while yet! Wink Good point about the a/c though. I thought you'd get at least 6 months, to be honest! Why aren't you taking your PC? And can't you access the net at cybercafes or a public library?

I think to be honest, if I said why I was leaving the online world and relocating to somewhere else in the country then I would be starting to tell everyone about my personal reasons why I'm doing this in the first place.

So as silly as this sounds, there are reasons why I'm not taking my computer with me but I'm afraid I don't wish to tell everyone my private life. As for cybercafes and public libraries, I'm not paying stupid high prices to surf the net when I can do it for near as free all evening every evening. Besides would they mind me connecting my video up to one of their PC's for the sake of my site!
