Probably got one of those "downplaying and dismissing" warnings or whatever waffle it is that DS come out with to basically say "You agreed with a post that we don't like" I don't know whether the others are perma banned or just temporary though. I knew Rhum was fed up with the way they've been carrying on.

It might have been a small consolation if they had sanctioned us and that Janet troll but they appear to have got off scot free.

ETA: I've just remembered I just entered my first ever team into the Emmerdaily game and now I won't even be there to claim the honour in the unlikely event I romp to victory! Double bollox!

Stepped away from the main threads I contributed too years ago and when they reset all the passwords a couple of months back never bothered resetting it.


Digital Spy has been spiraling downhill for years but forum wise it probably has grown to a state where they can't be constructively moderated - they may have no choice to close them.

My first question is are you permanently banned, or just for x number of days?

It is true that Rhumble, Daisydee and John_Dough were all given the push as well. Again, I'm not sure if these are temporary or permanent bans.

I also thought I was for it too, when one by one all members of that private discussion were coming up "User banned" - however I haven't been.

I have to say I'm somewhat shocked and annoyed at the way events played out yesterday. As per usual a troll who thinks they are above the rule of DS goes off on one (even declaring "I'm not going anywhere, but you may well be"), hinting that they may have had a friend on the Mod team backing them up. However a sizable bunch were ejected, with the perpetrator still roaming about - seemingly unpunished. Why on earth any of you deserved a ban is outrageous.

Rhum did say in a separate PM that if he was ejected, that he would complain strongly to TPTB at the very top of Hearst. Whether he will, or if he will be successful, who knows!

Yes, it is only a forum, however many (including myself) have been there years - 15 in my case. You get used to the familiarity and many of the better people on there.

That said TV forums is great too!

LG07, another obnoxious one, who liked to dictate what could and could not be discussed in the TOTP forums. Mentions of DLT used to get cries of "off topic" from them.

I don't think (not certain though), they are the same person, however both are equally obnoxious, rude and unpleasant.

Yes, it does all seem rather fishy, doesn't it, especially considering the fact that most of the banned were in that (entirely innocent) group PM. I'd reported 'her' for attempting to disrupt the thread just before that, though, so that may be what did for me (first time I'd ever flagged a post, but I figured by that stage 'she' would have reported me anyway, so what the hell).

I dunno if it's a permanent ban or not though Mark, all I get when trying to sign in now is "Sorry, permission denied". They have offered me no warning or notification of any kind, by any method, on or off-site. No emails, nothing. No option to even contact forum support for an explanation (that just manifests itself as a blank page). I can still read the forums, but that's it.

I'll try and sign in again next week, see what occurs. I was due a rest from DS anyway.

I still cannot believe the Janet troll has apparently not been reprimanded whatsoever. It is farcical.

Digital Spy has been on the slide for a number of Years now & the Moderation is now so biased it's successfully become a parody of a discussion forum than a real discussion forum, where if you don't fit into a certain PC profile you can virtually guarantee you'll be targeted by a radical PC extremist who's hell bent on faking faux offence in order to report, "re-educate" then further troll you into submission.

The often nonsensical jackboot Mod rulings for minor infraction whilst allowing a free pass for others for blatant baiting, which is itself a DS no-no according to the rule of DS law but rarely enforced is nauseating & the various review sites on DS bear this out.

DS review on Trustpilot being one example.

The life and most of the humour has been sucked out of the forum in a mass over-reactionary purge & it seems to be now little more than an echo chamber where any deviation from 'message' is not permitted.

Ironic a site displaying it's tolerant credentials can be so in tolerant, but that's how DS rolls.

The latest Mod cobblers is "downplaying" or "minimising" as a trojan horse to deliberately close threads & I feel the dice is loaded against even the most moderate of posters who don't fit a certain "profile", it's verging on what would've been termed a few Years ago as positive discrimination.

Mind you, some progress has been made as DS recently removed the " cock filter ", the discussion of which had the inner child in me howling!

While we can to some degree get around the nonsensical suppression of such innocuous words, I was extremely cross when I posted a link which included the word, only to find that the word was suppressed within the link itself, rendering the link useless.

Please - we are not children. The link I was trying to post was to a well-known nursery rhyme, "Who Killed C0ck Robin?" which in itself proves that the word in question is not offensive if it exists in rhymes for children.

We appreciate that users will find a way to bypass any filter which happens often anyway. We have become a little more lenient but still censor some of the more vulgar words. We see no issue in allowing cock as it has multiple meanings as pointed out here. Enjoy!

Well for what it's worth my ban appears to have been lifted - I've been a jolly cheeky boy and a naughty sexist and I should be very grateful that they're allowing me back in at all, apparently.
