Digital Spy

Digital Spy's adverts have got worse. They now have an advert player in the middle of the forums which prevents the user from scrolling up. It's not happening on one advert that appears in the player but it happens on all of them.

It mainly happens in Google Chrome.

DS's response to other complaints about this is: "we've tried replicating this in Google Chrome and nothing happens"

DS is the reason ad-blockers were invented.

People on DS have said that ad blockers don't work on this particular problem.

I have been to Digital Spy and I too admire some of its level of technical detail and there are some good threads as well.

Perhaps in the technical forums, but its a long way from the site it was.

Even in the technical forums, there's sniping.

Probably like most online communities there are good and bad contributors to forums, those who genuinely want to be helpful and those who want to be a complete PITA and on the majority of forums it tends to balance out in favour of the good. Sadly in the case of Digital Spy forums the balance is pretty much in the negative but I suppose that's happens when you set up hundreds of sub forums and try to be a one stop forum for everything...

TV Forum comes up on occasion on Digital Spy and from a quick search seems to have been used as a reference for various things including the TV archive that shall not be mentioned. anyway the thread about us now seems to have been pulled.

Ethanh05 spent an entire thread on Digital Spy "reminiscing" (or dissecting) Ad Breaks from the past, including those from before 2005 (he's already said he's only 12 years old) and seems to think this counts as being nostalgic. In fact going back through the posting history he seems to enjoy partaking in those "worst TV advert on TV" threads they have on there...

If he's only 12, isn't he too young to have an account on there? Though I was only 14 when I signed up admittedly (though that was nearly 17 years ago!)
