Perhaps try going outside and enjoying life offline ...

I blame Sky, personally. Media Guardian had just posted a story full of complaints about Sky Broadband with quotes from DS users. James Murdoch has been pulling out cables at Telehouse.

Just thought I'd point out the obvious ... It's like a public service for you all.

No, it's simply pointing the blindlingly obvious out and nothing more than that.

The official explanation:

Quote:
The sky is falling!

As you may have noticed the forums have been down since yesterday evening. Frustrating, we know, but we're doing our best to restore service as quickly as possible.

Essentially we suffered a software failure on our cluster servers during some on-site maintenance yesterday afternoon. Long story short: we only have one database server operating right now instead of the usual four. For this reason we decided to close the (more intensive) forums for the time being, allowing the main site to remain open for business as usual.

Resolving the fault is in the hands of a third party and we hope to have the forums back up and running again very soon.

Nice of them to give us an explanation. They weren't working earlier this afternoon, and they're still down now. They came back on in the early hours of this morning but I'm not sure what time they went down again.

It's not as bad as the early days of DS (2000-2002) when the site was going down on a nearly daily basis.
