So, what, you're sorted now? All remnants of WMP gone?

As far as I'm aware - I've used Spotlight to scour every last sector of the disk for all the file names on the list (it's only 12gB, so there's not much space for it to hide) but I dread to think what else may be lurking there.

Hm, if you hit all those files mentioned then you're clean. What real chance was there you'd somehow fubar your system by removing WMP? None that I can tell, there is no tarball registry with various keys which if not removed just right could hose your system, just files and even with them there that's no worry. A couple of extensions, big woo.

12GB seems a bit pokey, what's that there, iMac DV?

TBH, I wouldn't trust Micro$oft with a pencil. I had to log in as root to kill all those files, and then I had to boot into the console to kill the WMP folder because it locked itself on every bootup. I wouldn't be surprised if they'd hidden something else there.

I would assume so. There's no disk burner, but there are FireWire ports and 384mB of RAM (which I presume has been bumped at some point in the past).

Could have just sudo'd instead of using root.

Sounds like a iMac DV to me, not been bumped by a lot given it can handle upto 1Gb and whoever had it previously only popped in a 128Mb stick. Considering upgrading anytime soon? I would, nothing like being stuck behind the puck mouse of a 7/8 year old Mac to make you homcidal.
