Hi, I have been trying to listen to the new mixes on David Lowe's site, but I get the
"Windows Media Player cannot find the specified file. Be sure the path is typed correctly. If it is, the file does not exist at the specified location, or the computer where the file is stored is offline." message. All other older files on the site seem to be doing this too though - anyone else having difficulties with them or is it just me?

Thanks

It's fine for me, but I'm using Windows Media Player 9 for the Mac.

Hi
Thanks for the reply - I think all it needed was an update of media player then, as it works fine now.

Cheers

*feigns ignorance at that statement, fails*

You must be some masochist. Still kicking IE5 by any chance? God, what would it take you just to get Flip4Mac? I'd reckon you've even got RealPlayer somewhere in your Apps folder.

No. I deleted that as soon as I acquired it.

(and the reason I didn't get rid of WMP is because it practically requires surgical removal without killing the data on the hard drive)

Stating that software requires surgical removal does not constitute an endorsement.

In other words, WMP sucks. And it's grafted into the machine. Even though I've now deleted the application file, it's still lurking in other places on the system.

It does constitute you not being bothered to find a new way to remove WMP from the innards of your system folder though. I've done it before to quite a few Macs and didn't exactly create any kernel panics in the process, try MS' suggested route or just rm -rf the files in question if you're getting them flagged as in use. There's always Archive and Install, that's some fun.

What's your alternate media player for now then?

I've actually managed to get Flip4Mac installed now. The only delay was that the files for WMP were infuratingly difficult to remove.

So, what, you're sorted now? All remnants of WMP gone?
