Management Announcement

Over the past 4 weeks, CMP Radio has been negotiating a tailored music licence that will allow the station to operate successfully under the strict new terms, introduced recently. Unfortunately these negotiations have not been met with 100% success, although we were not rejected a licence to continue broadcasting, the remaining terms set out by the licensing bodies would make the operation of CMP Radio so difficult, that the fun and enjoyment will be almost totally obliterated.

These new terms coupled with the recent increased workload of the station operation and the ever-rising financial burden, have forced us to make a very hard decision.

It is with great sadness that we have to announce that CMP Radio will cease broadcasting from the end of 2004. This decision was not at all easy to make and we can assure you all that every option has been looked into.

We want to ensure that we go out with a bang and encourage everyone to make a special effort in the shows leading up to Christmas and the New Year. We are hoping to culminate the closing down with an "OB" style broadcast with management, at a single location and will be making every effort to make the show as enjoyable as possible.

Please can we ask you to not pursue any form of "Save CMP" petition or bombard the music licensing authorities with mail in any form, as this will only be a detriment towards any future projects that we may want to pursue.

Although this news will have come as a huge shock to you all, we hope that you will look on into the future and the many possibilities still open to the CMP team, in projects that we will continue to develop and build upon, using the fantastic experience gained from our 1 and a half years of outstanding broadcasting.

May we take this opportunity to wish everyone the luck they deserve in their media careers and can we also say a massive heart-felt thank you for the overwhelming support we have received during our time on air - we really really couldn't have done without any of you.

The last thing we want now is to lose contact with any of you, and each and every user on CMP Radio will have a place in any future projects we may persue.

Thank you again for all your fantastic support!

So that just leaves Mr Alldritt going through to the next round.

It's a funny old world, isn't it?

I've seen the costing of PPL for an Internet only station, and not one of them will be able to survive. Putting a stop to the bedroom fm's floating about on the net is a good thing in my opinion. Fine, practice, to yourself - them go out and get some proper experience if your are any good and truly want a gig. While CMP had a few good presenters - the majority are those bedroom fm members that are truly cronic and shouldn't be in front of a mic. They spoil radio. They make it look like a big joke. Good riddance.

I'm not so sure - I found the idea of having an equivalent of blogging in radio was always somewhat comforting. A lot of people are crap, but sometimes I deliberately tuned into Shoutcast stations with no listeners, just for something new.

Aldritt isn't going to survive under the new laws. Not legally anyway.

Internet Only Radio will be dead by the start of the new year, the only thing's left will be like BBC etc, and some in the USA.

Correction: Refrain from talking out of your butthole. Internet radio will not be dead by the new year. Why can't you just break the law and be merry?

I mean if you want to have a real radio job you muppet, as if you mess with stations with no licence then you have the threat of being found out and it will be very hard to get into FM Radio. If you want to join one though please be my guest and you may get a nice fine come through ya door.

Lucky I'm running a station dedicated to the playing of unsigned bands then.

out of interest, what were the average number if listners to any given cmp radio slot?

technically, the station and the service looks impressive, but i do wonder how many people actually have an internet radio station filled with unknowns on the background when their working on their computer or whatever. i imagine its just a few select fans and thats about it.
