Very clean and well designed, not too busy visually at all i like it.
Unfortunately quite a few of the pages are not working properly on some browsers. Also a lot of content is not finished, so there are a lot of empty links.
Funny though how although it is now Channel TVs main website, it dosen't appear to have much Channel or ITV branding or colour schemes on it. It's more of a Jerseyinsight.com type of site (if you know what i mean)
They were giving out free breakfast bags in Guernsey to commuters exiting the Salarie Car Park on Monday morning. The bag consisted of a muffin, a bottle of orange juice and website sticker.
I think Channel Online is something of a revolution.
I've been looking this week, and the news is sooo up to date - the toxic gas leak story was on the site this week with pictures before the emergency services had even evacuated my friend who was working in an adjacent office... how on earth did they do that!
They had a story on the day i got my muffin bag about a car over a cliff hours before anyone else, and seemed to be relaying stories and pictures almost live... I've seen they have a fleet of new vans - I'm guessing they are all equiped with laptop editing systems, digital cameras and some form of 3G or satellite broadband... I wonder if ITV or ITN are piloting a new service over here?
The streaming is pretty awesome too.... I'd go as far as saying they probably have the best local news site in the uk... is this really Channel TV? have ITV bought them out or something, it's all a bit odd!
Although you can still watch the latest edition of Puffin's Pla(i)ce on the main page, they've taken Oscar's section of the website down until November 1st so they can relaunch it... So much for Kevin's big hype about the new website!
Channel Online is a good, quick reference source for news - really good job and finally something to give the local paper site (the only other real news site in the island) a run for its money.
Channel 103 publish 2 paragraph summaries to Jersey Insight and BBC News publish two or three stories a day as part of the main BBC News site that is republished on the WIL site.
As fantastic as the site is, is anyone else absolutely FED UP of that ChannelOnline.tv advert?? They play it at least 4 times in one advert break, and it's so tacky and cheap.
