Very basic indeed! Is this a new look or is it just broken?

Broadband news clips is now available for those outside of the UK. It's apparently being provided with the aid of BBC World and advertising either side of the clips, so that it doesn't cost licence fee payers.

The image you posted earlier is the toned down version of the BBC front page.

They often roll out this version of the BBC front page when they are experiencing high demand (e.g. when there is a breaking news story ... I remember seeing this for a fairly long time during the 7th July attacks). Presumably this is so that a) the servers don't keel over and b) bandwidth is used more efficiently.

That was mine aswell, the one they chosen is just too plain and doesn't really look that different.

The bbc homepage is broken, very like the cap at the top of this page.

It is reading:

Due to technical issues, we are displaying a simplified version of the BBC homepage.

Yep, couldn't get it to load at all a few minutes ago.
Wonder what's causing it?

The BBC website seems really broken today - a tonne of Bad Request errors everywhere

Especially noticeable on http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/ and http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcone/

I find it to be very slow, though other websites are at normal speed. And when they do appear, stylesheets and images are missing.
