Be hinde the window of todays BBC cult christmas advent calendar(http://www.bbc.co.uk/cult/advent/index.shtml) is a Flash 5 animation of the open university logo( ). At the bottem it says there are more retro animations at the IlLove test cards site
http://www.bbc.co.uk/cult/ilove/tv/testcards/index.shtml which is a nice little gem. As well as the Open University's shield animation (71-91), it has the clocks(BBC1 69-91/BBC2 67-80) and school countdown and junctions (1963-1984) plus wallpapers and screensavers of all of the collection.
The sites MHP(comprehensive site - with a gallery of testcards, idents and obsolete technology. You can also join their mailing list.), Sub-tv (exhaustive section on Schools presentation, plus animations showing how the schools diamond worked), Transdiffusion (an area devoted to all of the bits of inbetween telly, EMC, plus an ident zone),Scottnet (see a BBC mirror globe) and TV Ark (picture of the NODD in action) are all mention on the BBC site.

Interesting...TV Ark is referred to a 'Simon Luxton's' and there's a link to individual pages. I thought it would be far safer to link to the main addresses.

Also, on the pictures page, the description at the top 'Click on the pictures below to get very boring wallpaper. '

Carole Hersee referred to as Carol Hershee.

And, is it me, or is 'ScottNet'  (as linked on the BBC site) a complete rip-off of MHP's BBC One page? http://www.crockards.freeserve.co.uk/tellyid.htm

The images are definitely the same.

Cheers, Asa

Yes, that site was quoted in the Radio Times article on the BBC1 balloon a year ago. I thought it odd for RT to mention that site rather than MHP when all the images have been half-inched (and rather badly resized) off MHP!

That BBC Test Card site was very cool. All those clocks!!! http://web.ukonline.co.uk/tv.home/forum/emoticons/cheesy.gif

Apologies for relisting the Scottnet page, (see my thread!) didn't read the comments Sad

The last minor update was on the 24th June 2000,and it was-

Test Card J has been broadcast on BBC2, Test Card W was shown on 'Have I Got News For You' and on News 24 during the BBC Power Failure on 20th June 2000.

It's strange how nearly all sites who link to it don't say anything about the non-updating.

BTW here is Darren's view on the updating, made in early 2000-

why isn't TV Home listed on any BBC Site I wonder, even though it was used on Liquid News.

Yes but we must respect Darren on MHP for not updating his site as he probably has other commitments such as family and work. Ahh, such is life!

Yes its a shame that he hasn't been able to update it but its still a great site none the less.

That ScottNet site must be quite good as it has an actual picture of the Network BBC1 globe, modifed to be used by mains and a button to press to make it work for exactly 1 minute!

Well...that picture was originally posted on MHP Private Parts.

So I remain to be convinced...
