For those interested, BBC Worldwide is now selling a limited supply of BBC content on iTunes. Episodes are an overpriced £1.89 each. At such a price, DVDs are still the favourable option for me.

Why so high I wonder? Surely it makes more sense to have a lower price?

I think Apple set the prices. They say it's because doing business in the UK is more expensive. That reason still doesn't justify us paying double what Americans do for the same content.

some people seem surprised that the bbc have even set prices, but really, they're just clutching at straws.
you could point to the iplayer, giving things out for free, but these are strangled by drm so you can't do anything with them. at least itunes can let you keep it on your ipod.
and if you say that the licence fee covers this, then surely shouldn't you get dvds for free, too? there has to be a line somewhere.
good of the bbc to get these on; hardcore itunes users will probably buy them, which could reach new audiences.

It's ridiculous though that after 7-days the BBC are flogging their programmes on iTunes, while both ITV and C4 offer a free 30-day window, and C4 now have even opened up most of their archive programming on 4oD for free too.

Might be another bonding oppurtunity for the Apple and the Beeb.
