It's a shame the BBC didn't already have an overall brand for their media player that would bring all their audio/video content together.

It all comes across very Perfect Curve.

Yes as Katya Adler said on Brexitcast recently (via the BBC Sounds app), she doesn't find W1A funny because it's too true.

Can only see this ending with it being rebranded back to radio in the not too distant future.

Problem with that is that it's not just radio. They'd be wrong if they branded podcasts as 'radio' for example

Omg yeah it's like BBC and it's like BBC Radio and BBC Podcasts but they're so different. Radio isn't a podcast, hell no. Podcast isn't radio. But what isn't different? They're both totally sounds. I know right, and they're both on the BBC, both sounds, both BBC.

BBC Sounds...

I know right totally.

Yes, but I suppose with iplayer's video offering expanding fast and it's radio content starting to do the same it could be a unwieldy brand. The two had started to diverge a while ago

I sense its a bit of empire building, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Having a specialist platform/brand can be better than one that fits all

Podcasts and radio are different things though. There's some cross over but they're different mediums - a different style and format, different delivery mechanism and listened to in different ways. They're going in for podcasts big time at the moment, which is something they weren't allowed to do until fairly recently. IPlayer is doing the same with content that's Internet only

Combining them together makes sense, if I want to listen to some comedy I don't have to go to bbc.co.uk/radio and bbc.co.uk/podcasts, or seperate apps on my phone. I want to be able to search all that's on offer, whether it's Just a Minute or Fortunately

The name has to be something that isn't either - Sounds is a perfectly fine name, I'm not sure what else it could be, iPlayer Audio sounds very generic and dull

As above, like the concept of tying everything together on one platform, don't even mind the name.

Don't like the branding horror show on display in the Twitter profiles. "Radio 5 Live on BBC Sounds" does not work. Hope it's just a promotional launch thing.

I just find "Sounds" describing something that is often entirely speech doesn't fit very well.
