If you sign up to the iPlayer Labs, you can download the new 'iPlayer Desktop' which works on Intel Macs and Linux now.
Have just downloaded it, and considering it's only in Beta, it's very stable and very good quality. No issues so far.
Bet that the PowerPC Mac users will be slightly annoyed though
