Java-TV Wiki Thread

Well, these challenges will be based on the APFS archive. Most of them will be basically to bring some of these mock stories up to date.

In my old ATV gallery it eventually gets swallowed up by Carlton in 1999, but perhaps it is worth going completely nuts and seeing if ATV were to come back by popular demand a year or so later, starting with the hearts and seeing things into 2014 if the loss of regional identity had never happened.

I just mocked up an ATV hearts on Paint Shop Pro as a test, quite proud of the VHS effect - it was done by shifting the saturation channel to the right a bit to get the ghosting, overlaying a duplicate layer covered in Uniform Noise (100%) and then blending it as a Colour (L) layer at 75%, then for the tape effect at the bottom I selected that area, motion-blurred it and then went over it with a Saturation Brush to remove the colour. Hue change to minus 10 to get a slight off-colour look. Basically this is what most of my knackered old videos circa 2000 look like :p

Billy, I think your ATV Hearts ident looks pretty good. Will you please make some more? I would definitely appreciate it.

Absolutely agree with Luke. Any continuation of these mock series would be surely welcome.

I love the sound of seeing what happens next. As it goes having seen how bad my mocks on APFS actually were I've been considering revisiting the whole thing. Regarding the challenges I would keep them in a separate thread so they can be easily found.

I will probably set up the challenge thread tonight or tomorrow. In the meantime, if anyone wish to begin improving their series of mocks then please do. You can post them here or on the new Java TV site.

Certainly like the sound of a challenge. Might be best organising it on a subthread on the homepage.

Could do, but I'm afraid we need to promote that site more ATM.

I've created a new Java ad for use on some sites. It has got the new Java logo, plus images of mock idents and it uses a testcard as the ad's background. This new ad also explains what the site is all about and also urges visitors to join Java and submit ideas. I sincerely hope that my new Java advertisement brings in more visitors and more contributors.
