Major Revamp Coming Shortly!

I've been beavering away at my website this evening, and I have come up with a radical and fresh new look.

I'm not going to say too much at the moment, except it will be launching at a new address and will include new features.

If you want more details, or maybe even a sneak peek, then you can email me at mail@andy-jones.co.uk

More details soon...

I've continued to revamp the site, and I've started to give each area of the site its own unique colour and look.

Please take a look and let me know what you think of it!

New Sports Section Now Online

http://www.andy-jones.co.uk/sport

Features the latest Sports News from BBC Sport and also some health and fitness calculators

I'll be developing this section over the coming weeks to add more content.

Please let me know what you all think of the site as a whole!

My fear is this site has become very disjointed with no common theme. It would be more successful IMO if you actually had a true purpose for your site, instead of a mocks section with some potential, being surrounded by collections of java applets and flash games.

well personally i think that it is better than having a site with just one theme or content.

Is there actually a law saying that x website must only have w content? i didn't think so either.

the site serves my interests and the interests of many others. i will be training to be a broadcast journalist from september, and so I felt that a news section on the site would be a benefit.

i added games because i like playing games, and so does many other people.

and i added other bits and pieces to flesh the site out a bit - rather than just being a niche website. i personally don't see any harm in this, and i don't really see any basis for your argument.

I'm not trying to make an argument, and at no point did I say your site had to follow any formula.
It's just that since you're advertising your site, I would expect you perhaps want people to visit it? It needs pull factors. Too many sites have too much of nothing, and not enough of anything.
Mocks sites can be fantastic, and on the one side yes it can be a good idea to flesh it out, body fat counters have little relevance unless you flesh out your sports section so that it contains more than things pulled from other sources.

Shall we leave it at that then? Wink

Ok, in response to Mr. Boo's comments earlier, I have made the decision to shuffle the site a bit.

NO CONTENT HAS BEEN REMOVED THOUGH (apart from pointless bits!)

The site is now divided into 4 sections
Creative Which hosts all of my mocks, plus my journalist portfolio
Information This is where all the news is now kept - including national, international and sports news
Entertainment As before, but is now also the home of the games
Forum As it was previously.

This has given the site a bit more definition in my opinion, and it makes a bit more sense than having loads and loads of different sections.

Let me know what you think!
