A very good mock designs website closes today.

I'm making this message as short as possible, because I'm trying to browse it whilst it is still on-line.

And so it's gone... Sad

Now replaced by colour bars with the words "Test Transmission" overlaid with a bug in the corner and some quite good muzak!

Why do people feel the need to yank the whole thing off-line?

Why don't they just leave it online until the hosting runs out and let it die 'natually' and say that it's not going to be updated in future etc?

It's a shame to see another site simply disappear into the ether; along with many others in recent times. Why the sudden round of closures?

What a pity.

Why are they all closing? Then there is 'T.V. Forum' in two months' time Surprised.

I'm only joking - I hope Confused . 'T.V. Forum' is here 2 stay (for now, at least Wink.). What will be the next 'web-casualty' though?

Well the musak has been changed. Very 70's action and adventure type musak and if I'm not mistaken, the bug on the bottom left has been changed so that he wears a cap?

I think it's just a preference not to leave the thing hanging. After continually updating it for years, there's something not quite right about leaving a site to rot.

Saying that, it is easier with a mock based site to leave it online as opposed to a modern idents based site which would age quickly.

Personally, I've kept the N24 subsite on TV Home even though it's pretty out of date now but I just spent a shed-load of time building that section, it seemed a shame to just get rid of it!

but surely people are interested in the older stuff, which they can't see on tv any more - as opposed to seeing designs/idents etc which are current, or are fresh in people's memories? so it wouldnt be rotting as such.

the only reason i pulled the plug on my site is because i changed isp. which was a shame, because most of the content it had isn't available elsewhere online. one day i'll get around to digitising the mass of stuff i've collected since and put it all back online.
