One minor suggestion to improve the effectiveness of the Google Ads - people are 'banner blind' these days - catch them off-guard with a lovely 'leaderboard' style - improve your CTR

EDIT : I turned off my ad blocker and the American ones don't show anymore. Good man Asa!

EDIT 2 : Still getting the American ones on the homepage.

Maybe worth experimenting with adding ebay.com and ebay.co.uk to the filter list to get rid of some of the scruffier ads. Though the ads shown instead may pay less, people may be more likely to click on them.

Does anyone know why it says 'Ads by Goooooogle' instead of just 'Ads by Google'? I've noticed this on other sites as well. Looks weird...

Yes I recommend Google ads, I put this for my client, and the guy is making decent money out of it.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions and comments.

The existing ads will run on the homepage for a period - partly to keep the account active and also to see how it goes with Google.

As to TradeDoubler, I think they were used for a while on the forum in the early days and I wasn't impressed by the result but I'll keep it in mind.
