I'm here to tell you about a new role-playing game which has just begun on the APFS site, and I'm now on the look-out for creative game players. Interested? Please read on...
6NET: YOUR REGION - YOUR TV
The premise of 6-Net is very simple... To show that a proper regional TV structure can still exist in the present day, backed-up with examples of presentation, programme ideas and a full regional schedule. 6-Net's transmissions will cover the entire UK and Republic of Ireland, through individually-licensed regional stations.
The regions will consist of:
North West Scotland & Highlands
North East Scotland
Central Scotland
Northern Ireland
Republic of Ireland
Borders and Isle of Man
North East England
Yorkshire and Lincolnshire
North West England
Wales
West
Midlands (weekday)
East of England
London (weekday)
London (weekend)
South and South East England
South West England
Channel Islands
Individual players can choose up to a maximum of 2 regions. Then the real challenge begins... put together a 'bid' for a regional license!
1) Choose a region and create a name for your station
2) Design presentation graphics (ident, menus, clock, slides, etc)
3) Give examples of programmes you will be producing (using a combination of graphics and text)
4) Explain why you think your station would be the best choice for that particular region
As there are 18 franchises to choose from, we expect a wide variety of bids. The creative quality threshold will be set at a high level, so players are encouraged to put 100% effort (both visually and imaginatively) into their bids. All submitted bids will be scrutinised by the Network Chairman (myself) and The Executive Director of Network before official decisions are formally announced in November.
Once the regional stations are set in place, it is up to the individual license holders to maintain their profile on the network. This can be done through the APFS Forum by submitting programme ideas for inclusion on regional or networked schedules.
From time to time, 6-Net will hold a 'Station Challenge', where all participants will be required to submit up to 3 graphics images relating to a challenge (e.g. How would your station cover flash floods in your region?) The station that contributes the most imaginative and creative work will be winner of the challenge and will be awarded 5 points. Runners-up will be awarded 3 points and 1 point respectively. At the end of the broadcasting year, the station with the most points will be awarded the title '6-Net Regional Station of Year'.
