This new streaming service is being done in partnership with the League of Ireland, RTÉ Sport & GAAGo.

It allow LOI fans to livestream matches from every football club involved with the SSE Airtricity League worldwide.

Goodness knows how they’ll make any money on it, even in Ireland the League of Ireland is a minority interest (average attendances last year of just over 2,000) compared to the FAPL (it wasn’t always so, particularly before English football was on TV, but nowadays certainly). And quite the irony that a company part owned by the GAA (though essentially operated by RTÉ) are the ones running it.

Domestic partners RTÉ and eir Sport continue to be able to show matches and these won’t be available on WatchLOI in Ireland. It appears eir Sport’s fixtures can’t be shown on WatchLOI anywhere and I can only presume that is because Premier Sports still holds U.K. rights to them.
