Don't we see this a lot though, something nostalgic turns up somewhere that hasn't been seen for a while and then once the initial interest fades, it drops off ratings/stats wise never to be seen again? Not applicable to stuff that hasn't really been off the air like OFOH and Dad's Army and others.
For some reason, the BBC own the rights to the first four series of GH, which is why presumably they're on Britbox, while I think Eureka Entertainment owns the rights to the rest.
If you compare the Britbox copies of GH compared to those posted on YouTube, the Britbox copies do appear to have been cleaned up.

Grange Hill beat classic Love Island in streaming stats according to this Guardian report which features Britbox. It also seems that the pandemic has helped raise subscription levels.
