Given that ITV and the BBC already run the BritBox joint venture - this makes sense.

One thing to keep an eye on is whether it will it 'just' be BBC Studios and ITV Studios content - or if the BBC and ITV have done deals with third-party production companies as well.

When this is announced, it must have specifically loaded top quality versions loaded onto it. BBC Store fell foul of selling off air streams which grated with those who forked out for it. It must be ALL HD with some UHD from the start. There’s no excuse for anything other. Price? No more than £5.99 per month unless it carries everything from everywhere. Loads of questions which I understand should become clearer on 27 Feb 2019.

Lots of reaction on Social Media over the name. What works in the US & Canada to promote British television may not necessarily work here, and I'm inclined to agree.

A better name is needed to promote the service for British markets.

Maybe once the BBC and Discovery finish the UKTV break-up, the UKTV name could be repurposed for this? It would kind of be a closed circle, as UK Gold started out as a partnership of the BBC and Thames, the latter of course being a former ITV franchisee.

I don't quite understand that point. The UK market is full of businesses that have British and UK as a prefix.

The name seems fine to me. Given that they already have some traction in US & Canada and the ambition must be to become a global brand you don't want to detract from that by creating a different brand for different territories.

I think this further shows that the BBC as we know it currently wont exist past the end of the charter.

That's possibly a little melodramatic. This is more akin to the BBC's commercial video releases or UKTV than anything else.

Ah. People are talking about it here! Do we really need three forums for TV, Media & Tech and Websites - for most of use all three are now one and the same!?

Seems pretty clear cut to me

TV Home Forum - discussion of presentation and programmes
Mass Media & Tech - discussion of platforms and infrastructure
Media Websites - discussion of, er, other media websites

But really this thread should be in Mass Media & Tech.
