I assume you've got permission to do this from the copyright holders of the programmes?
I’ve got recordings on my old Sky+ box that are about 10 years old and would like to upload it to my YouTube channel. If anyone could help getting these from my Sky+ box to my PC that would be great,
Many Thanks.

These recordings are just news clips from the likes of UTV Live, BBC News At 6 etc.

Well technically if you look into it it’s fair use to upload news clips
This is why I never post clips the broadcasters will come at you and take you away for posting their material online.

Something like this might be the easiest https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00TFNP4BS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_iDGXAb4F5S5ZM
It doesn’t keep it digital the whole way and won’t do anything for HD (though I presume it’s not HD). You’ll also need a scart to phono plugs cable.

I’ll give this a go, Thank you!

Are you uploading for the purposes of non-commercial research / study, criticism / review, or for the reporting of current events? They're the only exceptions in the UK. Notably, all of those would expect the infringing content to be included in a much larger original work in order for "Fair Dealing" to be declared.
You could argue "it's ten years old, who cares", but that isn't an exception, and the people who will care are the news companies who make a significant amount of money from selling access to their archives.
But, hey, it's your YouTube account to lose, not mine.

You can still get the HDD/DVD recorders with SCART input, you can copy from the Sky+ box to this and then to DVD and then pop that into your computer and feed it to YouTube that way. Cumbersome (and probably expensive) but certainly possible.
Of course going over SCART this way will knock the quality down BUT since YouTube will scrunch it up again anyway it probably won't matter.
Remember of course you still need an active Sky+ subscription with the card on that box to use the Sky+ functionality, otherwise you ain't going to be playing anything. There was a piece of software called Extract+ which could get the FTA recordings from the box (if you disassemble it and connect it to the computer) but it hasn't been updated for years and probably doesn't work on the latest firmware or Windows anyway.

I’ve uploaded many news clips to my YouTube and have had no problems. The only exception is GMB who allow you to use only
4 mins of their show before receiving a content ID match which is not a copyright strike and does not put your channel at risk.

I do the exact same on my channel and only have problems when the video is too long or if there is a sport headline where the company (e.g. FA Premier League) claim the video and have it taken down.
