It's smoother than the YouTube feed which is 1080p/30fps which has motion judder. YouTube for some reason only allows you to stream live at 30fps.

The YouTube feed is also a special version of Sky News International without commercials and has inserted filler. NOW TV's is identical to Sky News linear in the UK with ads and trailers. I'd assume if Sky News has also been added to NOW TV Ireland that it's the Irish feed with Irish commercials.

It is a bit annoying that YouTube only allow 30 or 60fps.

Good to know that it's the terrestrial feed. (It is entertaining to sit in the gallery wondering whether TX will try and play out an appropriate length international sports package during Sportsline - they never do...)

Yes, I've seen the sports filler on YouTube which is interesting to say the least!

Sky News International on 19.2E shows the same editions of Sportsline as in the UK and Ireland, alongside the normal sports bulletins.

Really impressed at the on demand content from the new channels on offer on launch day. Nature however is a touch the Sir David Attenborough channel though. Nature could seriously benefit from 50fps. Rapid animal chases are somewhat blurred at 25.

I noticed the split second blurring on a show where they were under the sea, especially on the coral reef scenes.

It's still working on the 4K Box using the now and next guide and able to stream on the Android app, but not working on Chromecast.

Talking of Chromecast, the Now TV Boost now works with the 3rd Generation and Ultra models.

I think Apple TV 4 and 4K is a bit of a halo platform. It's a premium platform from a premium manufacturer - but in terms of market penetration and share, I think it lags a long way behind the much cheaper Amazon Fire TVs, Rokus and Now TV devices.

The only person I know with an Apple TV is an Apple fanboy. They have an iPhone, an iMac and a iPad.

Apple TV isn't much of an incentive to get one either.

One real incentive, rather than fan boy one, to get one is if you are an AV enthusiast. It's one of the only platforms that delivers Netflix and Amazon Prime with Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos AND correctly changes the output frame rate based on the content you are playing on those two platforms. Very few other platforms have this functionality for both of the main streaming services.

I received a promo email from NOW TV tonight telling me of the "three new channels" now on the Entertainment Pass. No mention of Sky News.

Sky News isn't attached to a particular pass - as long as you have A pass of any kind, then you can watch it.
