The latest retail promotion is with Pampers. A free 1 month Entertainment pass if bought with promotional packs at Sainsbury's.
Aimed at a certain Mr Akinbola?
"Can Pampers merge with Cow & Gate to form a company and they can start a music channel to rival MTV but they can also show documentaries about ancient Rome."
Rumour has it, well someone who works for Argos suggested, that the normal price point for the new pack will be £39.99, if so will be an inviting way in even at that price. Same source suggested the launch of a Retail Card for 1month sports at £30 from March/April too, which sorta ties in with the reductions available for Movies and Entertainment Cards when compared to the direct sell route. Nice if correct.
In addition Black Box users are being invited to 'trial' something shortly. No clues as to what, T&Cs for applying include an NDA if accepted. Am awaiting more news as to whether I'll be admitted. Of course the NDA will mean no discussions here as to what's involved.
Considering the Chromecast (2013) model (and soon 2015 once the firmware has upgraded) now outputs at 50Hz, it has suddenly become a budget alternative to the Now TV box.
The two months Sky Movies pass offer is still available to new Chromecast users too.
Sorry for keeping on about the Chromecast, but while watching Sky Movies Christmas, the live stream is certainly 720p HD, rather than the official SD.
On the LG app, live movies are 480p.
I have to admit, Chromecast is now the budget viewing device I would be most likely to buy in the near future. Considering the price-point, though, I'd probably end up with a collection of various types of devices.

Must admit I'm tempted to buy the new Chromecast as well. From reviews, it's much faster at buffering streams than the 2013 version which is a bit slow. Plus Google are giving £20 credit to spend on Google Play.
Don't think the new Chromecast has 50Hz yet - though I expect it will arrive soon.
AIUI the new Chromecast may have improved WiFi performance, though it's also worth remembering there is a cabled Ethernet adaptor that lets you connect an old (and I assume new?) Chrome cast without the need for WiFi. It's a modified PSU that plugs into the Micro-USB port that is usually used to power the Chromecast and adds a cabled Ethernet option.

I have a original Chromecast in two rooms, 2015 Now TV Box and the Fire Stick.
I must say the Fire Stick is my favourite, especially after side loading Kodi.
The redundant original white Now TV box can't be moved elsewhere due to the limit on devices Now TV has
